hi all
the other day whilst hitting some particularly tricky greenlanes my friend managed to snap his front axle casing.
i have found a nice looking replacement on fleabay that ends this evening but in the description says 94-onwards and his is a 91
my questions are:
Is there a difference pre and post 94?
if so what are the differences?
thanks
tom

never bled it before but think i may have had a big air buble as when off roading at the weekend my steering went from fine to screaming at me in a few seconds and took almost half a litre to top up and had lots of little air bubbles in the fluid :s seems alright now tho

Hi
ive been looking at engine pre-heaters again since its starting to get chilly again
i found this jobbie on ebay
Just wondering what people think along the lines of which coolant hose i should put it in and will it affect the flow of coolant when the engine is running??

out of interest what is it that makes you think that your clutch is slipping?
apart from that very unwelcome smell of burning clutch or gaining alot of revs quickly without any speed gain i dont know how to tell if its slipping
thanks

As mentioned elsewhere, always check the setting of the master push rod as well after changing the clutch:
Bottom of pedal must be 140mm from floor and then adjust push rod on master - there needs to be 1.5mm of free play between the end of the rod and cylinder piston. Pedal should be able to be depressed at least 6mm before there is movement of the master cylinder input piston.
thats some interesting figures? where did you find those out? when i rebuilt my clutch system i just kind of set the height of the clutch pedal to be similar to the brake pedal (although i think this may be a tad high from when i redid the brake system)

i would imagine that a defender 200tdi temp gauge and sender would work fine as its still a 200tdi except that i think you need an adaptor for the sender to screw into the engine IIRC
also you may need to put a resistor in the cable between the sender and the gauge, someone else should be able to advise about this bit though

Sorry slightly off topic but:
mines a Britax/SWF rocker with telltale light in a panel above my rear view mirror/camera screen.
rear view mirror/camera screen???? that sounds interesting
is that for a reversing camera? any chance of a piccy to see how youve mounted your screen?

sorry i may have grabbed the last one there
i like marks idea of the lamp coming on for a few seconds during ignition to prove the light just like abs lights etc

why thank you sirs
it looks very beefy and a tad OTT but i checked my measurements last night and it should look fine once the arm is welded on
there are going to be two 2" tubes welded onto it and the hinge is 6" tall so from the bottom will be:
1/2" gap
2" tube
1" gap
2" tube
1/2" gap
