Hi
Ive got to the point where i desperately need to fit a coolant level sensor on my 300tdi as i dont want to spend another £2K on my engine
so i searched online and saw bits of info about using part no PRC7925 (Range rover 200tdi Header tank sensor/cap) and thought thats a brilliant idea so managed to find and order a brand new genuine one for £26
brill its arrived but how do i wire it up errrr confused tommy here
so i searched online agaibn and can see bits of information all over the place but can seem to piece together a full solution so....
Can anybody Help Please?????
i believe ralph has done this mod in the past, can you remember how you did it????
thanks in advance
tom

if fitted to a boat it would be leak proof but for some reason anything will leak when it sees a landy haha
-
+1 for turners also. ive spent a scary almount with them over the years
and i definately agree with the turbo check, mine killed it self within 10 miles of my full engine rebuild, i thanked the gods oodles that night for nothing managing to enter my oil sump and destroying all my hard work
-
out of interest where did you get your roof hatch/light thingy mo bob from
that would be perfect for my brothers campervanbulance hes making atm
-
mine hasnt done that yet although when i was refitting my turbo i alsmost set fire to the car by getting the oil feed pipe stuck to one of the live contacts
-
looks brilliant i am checking this thread everyday
love what your doing, shear quality
-
hmmm Heat Treating Thats a good point
i will have to anneal the pin after welding
-
hopefully should have the hinge built up this week so if it works i will let you know
my friend runs a small engineering shop so am going to get him to price it up for me just for info
-
33"x12.5"x15" Baja Claws
will have to post piccy later as dont have any pics in work
-
i did look into buying the pivot, it seems that only americans and austrailians make decent pivots with bearings but to ship to the uk from either makes the hinge cost almost £100 i think with my design anybody could pay a small engineers to turn them a suitable hinge for under £50
-
note: switch on the steering column
-
i also found that i managed to wear out the actual switch which caused me major headlight issues
new one off ebay for a couple of quid sorted everything
-
basically yes what you said hehe
except i am turning it myself in work so the hinge pin itself is about 1.5" OD then there will be an arangement of oil seal, 2 back to back high load angular contact roller bearings and an ifor williams hub cap stuck on the top hehe
i estimated that my hige arangement should be well overkill but it shouldnt ever break hopefully
one of the things i dont like about swing aways you can buy is that they all use brass bush pivots which just get accelerated wear with road dirt and grime and the vibrations of a landrover, even allisports £800 version uses them!!!!

dont want to steal your thread but im not sure these layout diagrams are 100% accurate
i have a 300tdi pick up and of the three relays at the bottom the far right one isnt needed as i dont have a heated rear window being a pick up, the central relay is the start relay and the left hand one is also spare?!?!
the headlight relay is pink and located behind the instrument binnacle i believe

am thinking of using at over-center catch

i think i may have passed you guys in the morning in machynlleth on my way to aber

Hey
Just thought id start a thread on my new swing away im making incase anybody was interested
My Scope of what the swing away should be is:
Super Heavy Duty as i have 33" micky thompson baja claws
a single pivot point off the chassis/rear cross member as i have a pick up
Buiklt to last with smooth operation
and last but not least its got to look cool
Attached are two images a 3d design of how the hinge assembly is going to attach and a photo of the trial fitting of the hinge support box

to be honest i have never had good results with any bp fuel in my 300tdi, i find bp fuel lowers my mpg where shell v-power and sainsburys give me the best mpg, (it may be a lil sad but i studyed my fuel usage over almost a year to figure out where i was best to buy fuel from, unfortunately dont have the results anymore)
300tdi coolant level sensor PRC7925 Wiring Help Please
