  9. Argoshield also have a small percentage of Oxygen (3% or so) along with the Argon and CO2, personally i use argoshield light for my mig welding
  10. Personally i'd go TD%, i've had several and they beat the older engines hands down and electics are not to be shyed away from, every car in production has them, and has done for donkeys years to the point even 300TDi had an ECU towards the end of production. I'm currently fitting a TD5 into my D-Lander build...
  11. Personally i'd rate Eastnor over billing any day, billing is an ok show but facilities suck.
  12. £175+vat (205 ish) but got a free conversion to gas including reg and wire for that price.
  13. Well i bought it this morning, got the 175 mig with reg, Y sized bottle of Argoshield light and all the bits and bobs, also bought myself a nice speedglas auto-darkening helmet too I've done a few mins of welding and after tweaking the settings a bit got the famous bacon crackle noise so guess thats all working ok....i'll post a pic of my first attempts EVER later when i've done some more but so far i've stuck a bit of box to some angle and no ammount of abuse has shifted it!
  14. I've not seen any decent TIG machines for that price (£200 ish), the hobart can be run gas or gassless too.
  15. Yup, thats the one, no longer in production and Hobart are owned by another brand, and are no longer manufacturing or selling units under the Hobart brand, so Wellington told me the other day!
  16. Cut the ears off....good plan, thanks chaps
  17. Is a Hobart 175 worth getting, they will throw in reg & conversion kit for going with big bottles of gas too??
  18. I have a new one here ready, the problem is getting it out of the "pressed in bit", the 2 bolts are out but i cant get it to shift as there isnt a place where you can rest it to belt the middle as the joint has a flange under it?
  19. Can anyone help me out with a guide as to how to remove this bloody thing?
  20. Dave of Llama is making mine
  21. I went to Wellington in poole today and asked about the 140....they dont make one and havnt done for a long time apparently, in fact hobart are no longer in business! They do have 175's tho which come in @ £205 inc vat and they will throw in reg/wire for gas conversion too
  22. The ideal bench height is approx height of your hips if you are standing at it.
  23. I rang both BOC and airproducts the other day and BOC is considerably cheaper on both fill and rental than airproducts. Their prices also include VAT where AP's dont.
  24. So Mr Hobbit.....3 weeks on how is the Hobart 140 performing?
  25. What about this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEALEY-SUPERMIG-250-...1QQcmdZViewItem
