  2. Gwyn hasn't got any ( only one to get back to me) directed me to company were he gets them from, don't even answer the phone Let alone email, same goes with ostles no response. Thanks for help anyway
  3. Does anyone know if you can still get compomotive dwf alloys? I've emailed compomotive and various 4x4 Toy shops, no reply from anyone! Defender fit is what I'm after, new or used not fussed, anyone know of any going? Thanks for any help
  4. I will let you know if I ever sell it, tho I think you may be waiting a long time (sorry) Ps can't remember if you said you had pressed the bearings on the underdrive shaft yet? See another service you provide, as me hitting them with a hammer to get em on never works very well. Thanks again Nige
  5. Thanks Steve, as I said very impressed with the work, and how quick you did them both, fair enough as Nige told me that you had problems getting some arb parts on some other diffs, but i left them with Nige on the saturday, think it was tueday morning Nige rang and told me they had been done. Thanks again.
  6. Not an advert, just a happy customer, big thanks to Nige and Steve at megasquirt for sorting my diffs out. Pic of the Jack McNamarra Even managed to get my mrs interested in V8's and how deep you can go in water with em thanks again Nige Steve ps, the arb is nice as well Nige, good job ta
  7. Thanks, never thought of reusing the old one
  8. Need to change the rocker cover gasket on my td5 defender, there seems to be a vast differance in price from genuine land rover ones, so is it best to stick with a genuine one? Or one of the (lot) cheaper ones? Thanks
  9. Thanks, I know the box should be a 1.667 not had time to confirm ratio is def 1.667, just curious if anyone knew what the P2/706 bit was
  10. Don't know if ive put this in the correct place, but here goes. Ive just bought a LT230 box its a 20D suffix C ie 1.667 i belive? it was taken out of an ex mil 1986 90 which seems a bit strange, tho i have been told that some military 90's were fitted with them, the question is, as the box is on the bench and im going to strip it down before re fitting, on the face of the box just above were the ratio sticker would have been is the number P2/706 any idea what this number may refer to? thanks for any help
  11. yep, thats how you explained it to me Nige
  12. Isn't defender and performance a bit of a contradiction in terms? or is that why my insurance keeps going up?, I found out the other day that strange people are even lowering them!
  13. Ta for reply's Bout what Nige said, just a little concerned if I put the arb in the front I have to get at it, could always sell it and get an Ashcroft one
  14. After a long chat with Nige today (we kept getting cut off!) He is going to be pegging a couple of diff's for me, one is fitted with a McNamarra air locker other is an arb rd128, as iv'e finally settled on a ratio of 3.5 ive got to choose which is going in the rear axle as r&p are front and rear, so question which would be the better for the rear? Nige recon's the mcnamarra as stronger than the arb should go in the rear but said to stick a question up on here to see if anyone has other ideas, ta for any help
  15. Duno, for a bomb proof air locker don't think you can beat a Mcnamara, tho limited distribution over here, and i don't think the guy was ever flavour of the month, but for build quality and reliability his gear is second to none, arb's lockers are ok, but its a hell of a company lot of publicity and back up, tho of late price rise and the quality of the parts (in my opinion) has come down, Ashcroft's air lockers seem to be the way to go at the mo ie, they are cheaper than arb's, build quality is very good, and in the UK problems arre quickly sorted, tho if you are going further afield, expedition, overland etc, you may want to look at a locker that you can sorce parts quickly, but at the mo as has been said if its for a uk challenge truck, greenlaner, or struggling to get out of tesco's, prob ashcroft's is the way to go, and Dave put's up with you asking silly question's, well he seems to with the ones ive asked.
  16. Have you tried Charles at JCS stapleford? tel 07505 105027 he did have some.
  17. Thanks for reply, think I will def get another paper one then.
  18. Thanks for reply Andy, more or less what i had been told
  19. Sorry if this has been asked before, but after a search this morning on here I couldn't find the answer i was looking for. So question Td5 defender, snorkel fitted, any recommendation's as to the best air filter to use? I was told once that the genuine Land Rover ones are about the best to use, as long as you change em often, others say the likes of itg etc. thanks for any help
  20. Thanks, for quick reply, will give them a call monday
  21. I was looking into fitting a rear winch bumper on the Td5 defender 90 i have, it's not a challenge truck, so was not looking into changing the rear crossmember or moving the tank etc, so noticed in one of the comics that nene have a rear nas style bumper with winch mount, to take low line winch, bit dear but though drop em an email to ask a few questions, nothing! no reply nothing, so give em a ring, hung up on me! Question as i now don't really want to buy one from nene (overland) i think they are called, does anyone know of something like the nene nas style rear winch mount? ta
  22. Blimey, I got a set from the same auction site a few months ago from a land rover breaker that sells on there a lot, got the full set of heritage gauges, binnacle and loom for a bin price of £125, looks like I got a bargain for a change
  23. Off the top my head, i think there is a place on the v5 for vehicles being exported out the country, im not at home so can't check my v5, I sold a freelander a good few years ago to a guy in South Africa, im sure when i took it down to London to go in a container i got the guy to sign the V5 to say it was being exported out the country, then just sent V5 to swansea, i got a bit worried in case they were using it around London and V5 was still in my name, never had any come backs and that was nearly 8 years ago
  24. Thanks for link, do you know of hand the overall width?
  25. Worth a try, thanks for that
