Currently in the process of getting ready to stuff a m57 & 8hp into my 110dc, having been fortunate to drive a variety of combinations at Mw Machines it's my personal favourite, however the m57 & 6hp would be a cheaper option, then cheaper than that would be a M57 bolted to your existing Mt82

A quick google turns up this:
Portal Tek themselves have long been out of business as far as I'm aware.
Torq axle have had some issues in the last few years also i believe,

I was looking at those auxbeam switch panels recently,
Terrafirma do there own branded version but my observation is that they still have fuses in the main control box, although you could put circuit breaker fuses in place of the single blow fuse I suppose
Ideally something like the switch pros would be my choice as its all solid state with no fuses,

I doubt it will be much of a problem where I live but I've heard stories of delinquents running the cable over the top of the truck to the tow bar and turning it on 😡
i have to say this is one of those urban legends that seems to float about but with very little actual evidence of it happening,

i have a XGPS160 im currently using as a standalong GPS reciever which my ipad is connected to, plus my phone for performance logging,

i also have a XGPS150 spare that id sell if it was of interest to youhttps://www.dualgpssolutions.com/explore-by-product/xgps150a

Fox used to have diagrams & information for each of there shocks on there website, personally I'd charge them to between 150 & 200psi & go from there with how they feel

will need to source a schrader valve pressure gauge that goes above 200psi so I can check pressures to ensure they are identical regards Stephen
i wouldnt put more than 200psi into them as a maximum pressure, more than that can make them ride terribly or skew the ride height / spring rates
-
its also worth chipping in that having the shocks gassed up will also reduce the articulation also

Shocks are 2" diameter 7 /8" shafts and bolt through spherical is 1 /2" regards Stephen
i thought they were 2.5"s for some reason, reason for asking is on the bigger shocks they have a slightly bigger spherical bearing on the ends, which use a step down reducer which gives more missalignment that the normal parallel spacers which would have helped your misalignment, but not in this case
-
@Stellaghost what diameter are your shocks? what size bolt are you using through the spherical bearings?

No I hav'nt, was I supposed to regards Stephen
it would make things easier for checking your clearances / cycling the suspension, you wouldnt need to put them in the press to compress them,
-
@Stellaghost have you degassed the shock?

looking at gigglepins new ultra 4 car at the weekend, jim did mention that some of the idlers were metal td5 ones with the ribs machined off, could be an option of they are a similar diameter,
i do have a manufactured pulley to make into a tensioner but havent got round to it yet as i found the replacment pulleys on amazon for £12 each from febi- 1

Never heard this before, what makes you say that?
ive broken about 6 of them, everytime it punched the roller through the worm, at one stage we were changing them after everylap round walters

300m material seems to be an issue at the moment in the uk for availability, have been chatting with Blackbird in regards to my front axle they are building & it looks like t could be a struggle
-
replace the front axle with something to keep the wheels attached, upgrade the rear axle to match, & generally fix a years worth of abuse ready to do it all again, may is miles away right ?

doesnt help with the main question but i painted my garage floor yellow rather than the usual grey as i find it easier to find items dropped on the floor,
this is the paint i used
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360586553444?hash=item53f4a22864:g:bswAAOxyvSVREkJ8
thined the first coat with white spirit then put the 2nd coat straight out the tin, 4/5 years on its still in good condition with only where the buggy tyres sit lifting

We have previous for bending them - jumping a Unimog maybe 2m in the air. If you watch Fast 9, there's a scene driving through a minefield. The 'Armoured' vehicles were Mogs underneath
.Err...no...not even slightly similar. It's going to use one of my (daft) ideas for suspension. Simulations in Solidworks Motion look promising.
What is the axle pictured? The knuckles look the kind of thing I was hoping for.
thats an evo axle from blackbird,
i had tagged you onto there post of FB as its easier than trying to crosspost to here
reason i ask about the suspension is with the d2 axles once you have removed the standard spring platforms, you can truss right to the cast knuckle, much like you can with patrol axles (which are another option as they would be likely strong enough internals wise, once they have been trussed)- 2

Unimog portal axle that's all I'm saying regards Stephen
he wants to jump it, not stay on the ground 🤣🤣🤣

Spidertrax are clearly good but fairly expensive. I have a slim budget for the prototype - but a decent one for the final build, if it works. Also hard to get in the UK. D&G are probably the easiest I guess. I was holding Spidertrax in reserve for the 'hero' build next year.
Someone else mentioned Evo axles - but there's very little info on line.
The same someone also mentioned D2 Axles. It would be easy to chop off the knuckle & glue on a boltable flange.
Whatever we use will get boxed in / reinforced heavily to stop them bending in the middle. However, the problem is the front axle where there's not much you can do to brace the outer end, from the spring outwards which will be subject to considerable moment forces.
rob at ORA would most likely have stock of spidertrax,
i definetly wouldnt rush towards a bolt on axle end as from my experience with landrover ones, it causes more problems that it solves, Especially if you are jumping said vehicle
are you trying to use conventional springs & shocks or using coilovers / bypass's

I've been given a project at work, to design a vehicle based on one of the big, old American 'muscle car' Pickups, capable of jumping and landing repeatedly, preferably without bending axles or wheels falling off. The track is likely to be about 70". I hope to absorb most of the impact energy with the suspension (which will be fairly novel, and use Land Rover parts).
It will be rear wheel drive with beam axles front & rear.
It needs to be based on parts we can get in the UK. I wondered if any of you had ideas for where to look?
Van & Truck axles seem to be about the right width - but truck axles at least 'feel' too heavy. It doesn't need a huge diff.
We can of course make the front axle tube easily, if we can find suitable knuckles - but I'd prefer to find an off the shelf rear with a diff.
I wondered about 101 axles - and lengthen them a bit.
I'm afraid I can't give too much away - but you'll understand when the film comes out! We're going to start prototyping / testing in the next few weeks - mostly on the suspension.
Any ideas?
spidertrax or evo axles from blackbird @discomikey
i wouldnt rush to use landrover axles with bolt on swivels as its pretty easy to eject a complete hub on heavy landings, however the "cheap" opton would be a d2 axle with suitable strengthening & bracing do last a little longer but they do also bend right at the inner knuckle

wonder if that ever came to anything?
i believe the project was canned due to issues & delays on the fabrication side , the rolling chassis came up on ebay about 18 months ago for sale,
BAS & Nene did put the TDv6 engine into several defender at one point but the cost of the ecu & its finickyness to run the ecu outside the donor vehicle is what stopped the project,

With preparation they can be dunked like any other engine, unfortunately the majority of people who have had issues from going swimming have done very little preparation before hand,
