Yeah, wings, and rear tub are interesting, but probably not one for bashing intro trees, I was about to write they must be fibreglass, but no, it is all steel fabrication, which I think is pretty cool.

Quilted leather bucket seats means this is probably not a proper challenge vehicle, where solid plastic or aluminium wins out every time.

all steel fabrication = sounds bloody heavy, main question would be whats it hiding underneath?

in regards to the seats, id rather those than plastic or aluminium seats simple because id rather not have a broken back, alloy or plastic seats suck unless your planning on imitating a boat

We have seen MW machines 4x4 are manufacturing a kit that will be a complete install but to the tune of £3.5k it’s pricey, although I’m sure it’s spot on.

if you break down the component cost its not that bad a deal,

depending on what gearbox combination your planning to use, the adapter on its own is 800+v,

yes you can use the cobbled together P38 bellhousing option, yes its cheaper, but only if you can get the bellhousing & parts, you still have to assemble the box which then becomes a combination of parts, plus the clutch is a bit small so it slips

    Into a Defender I guess ?

Either you go forward and the rear of the winch sits flush with the rear of the bumper Like this :

D44 Defender High Mount Air Con Bumper - 8274 Standard ...(Thank you Devon4x4) but you loose approch angle

    Or you start hacking :

    D44 Defender 8274 Competition Mount

Having a Husky on the 110, I'm not too worried about the approach angle

first picture has aircon, second picture is there competition bumper

the plain lead in "should" assist in not cross threading the fitting, however ive normally gone for the longer non lead in version personally,

2nd point i would believe that is correct,

However, as much as i like the idea of doing them in brass, £1+ each a fitting, f that, ill continue to use the plated fittings at 50 for £12, ive never had any issues with them corroding away like cackshifter is suggesting, either way each to there own

Assembled up the front axle with the new spindles to get a rough length for the inner axle shafts.

    001(28).JPG

However, am now thinking I’m going to have to buy the drive pucks to set the correct location of the outer drive shafts to get the centre line of the UJ on the knuckle steering axis centre line. Did ‘eye ball’ it with a steel ruler and measured both short & long side. Unfortunately, neither are ‘stock’ lengths from the lists I got off Pirate 🙁

Couple of options,  buy custom ones out of the US at $400+ a set or get some Super Duty ones cut down & resplined.

Whilst searching for part numbers of 35 spline inner axles I found Amazon had some of the USA Standard Gear ones (~35” long) for $65 each... bargain 👍

youre progressing much better than i am with these axles im building,

not sure if its just the angle of the picture but the axle casings look very narrow,

You must be near me as drumclog is near me. I am laughing all yous guys are right. I was just thinking a locker would be handy to stop me getting stuck, I don't go to pay and play ect I just use it got pulling trailers ect and going on my mates farm. I get my self stuck usually in soft parks in winter ect but I would probably try to go further done to the burn ect and get myself really stuck , with a locker. I am thinking now I got bfg all terrain on the 90 and a spare that mud terrain maybe better buying another 3 mud terrain.  It was that video I seen that got me thinking locker.

i stay just outside bathgate, havent been to drumclog recently but used to go regularly

  7. appears to be a brazilian company, there main axle products appear to be dana 60/70/80 style with a reasonable price point, altough they seem to use a lot of inhouse products rather than known branded components

Well I haven't done much towing with it yet but I did move my sister's horse trailer and it was effortless. The engine has so much talk I didn't really notice it was there.

On another note we did a run from Oxford to Dunfirmeline at 70mph all the way (on cruise control), we then competed in a two day on and off road navigation event and then drove back home via the lake district and averaged 32mpg, which I was very pleased with.

    dunfermline in scotland?

Most commonly spotted these days driving a crusty D1 or D2 with no silencer, blowing clouds of diesel smoke around, and a load of eBay accessories + cheap lift kit bolted on despite the fact it would clearly struggle to pass an MOT.

not forgetting the obligitary high vis jacket, rigger boots & a one life live it sticker

Happens a lot because Discovery ecu's are far more plentiful and therefore cheaper.  Defenders don't tend to be broken up often so second hand ecu's are hard to find.  Do as above, or fit a matched gauge and sender.  I have found that with a discovery ecu fitted, the engine ecu appears to see the right temperature when looking at live data, so it is simply the wrong signal being sent to the gauge.

    the senders are the same

im using a discovery engine in my defender
