Can't decide what size tube OD ID this might bem much as I have studied the pics and tried to guesstimate.. Anyone know what tube they use ? Nige
  2. Yeah, but I know how long it would take me, and for the money frankly its a bargain ! Tube + Time would just be silly, unlike the www.equipe4x4.co.uk s Tubular A Frame, nice but STUPID Money, and I'm thinking, dependant on how rear mod goes its on the "Make one" board.... http://www.equipe4x4.com/inglese/ARTICOLO....REAR%20TRIANGLE YIKES HOW MUCH !!! Nige
  3. Just been given a DVD to watch by a mnate, Hammer Down Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez Normally I watch these yawn, and whizz through, but this one.............. Theres a section in it called extreme winching . F Ing H its a Jeep winches up a near sheer rock face, and it is superb to watch, I feel sane now by comparison Made me think, for all the dross and average stuff out there is the odd gem... HammerDown is well worth a watch if you've never seen it........... Whats your fav DVD VHS and why ? Nige

  9. As the header says, As part of my suspension plans I want PLUS 1+ Inch Turrets for the 90, its a long explaination why, and it may not work, should do, but......can't be bothered to make them for the money they seem to be... Who makes them ?... who's are the nicest, ? does anyone do them either Bare Metal etc (I'll be tweaking them hence why I want a 'MAKER' as they may supply bare etc)? and big Question, does anyone do them with an "Eye" loop type fitting ( A Pin / Bolt) at the top for shocker mounting rather than the standard "Pin" Type fitting. ?? Web sites and pics would be good, I have yet to get hold of Matt Lee (Lovely Quality) ... who I think may do them,.... but I'm open to suggestions ! Nige

  13. Sorry should have siad insurance assesor, he the one that stands in the charred remins, looks at the Oxy bottle and goes oooer ! Actaully the 2 top causes of fires in homes is fags - smoking variety / fall ing asleep and deep fat chip frying - in a saucepan ! But Oxy acet would invalidate most insurance policies, not to mention invalidating your neighbours, although in one of miones cases thats a "Postive" Nige
  14. Yep I used to have "Garage" size Oxy acet in the garage, mate of mine is an insurer, he had a fit, I phoned the insurance compnay the next day - I had 24 hours to remove it or I invalidated the house insurance, also the fire brigade told me a 200 metre cordon is the norm for a fire, as Acet explodes impressively. I have a oxygen biottle (they are ok with this), and disposable Acet equiv (Mapgas) which I keep at the bottom of the garden, this is good for heating and cutting, just goes through a tin quick but it £7 a tin !, and they are ok with this too. ! SWMBO was none to impressed with this esp with my "Track record" For cutting plate up to 10mm I use the plasma runing off the 30 amp supply, superb piece of kit !, 6mm is a dream, and cleaner faster and less dangerous than Gas axing ! 15. for a real hoot................. How about us clubbing togther (via Paypal) ...............and then going to LRE .....and asking for them to put a"Siutable Ad" in the MAG He would do his 'absolute Nut' Nige
  16. Les, If the top end is rattly is most prob the cam worn, this gives excessive clearance in the valve tappet rods (which can also wear they should be "Round" at each end, often when worn they have a little point - if so they are for the bin too), and the whole lot then rattles. The followers should rotate, again with crud they can get stuck, and then they wear in the top,. Often best course of action is a cam kit, this will often inc new cam, followers, rods, gaskets etc. Just pray the cam bearing are ok, normally they are, but they can wear. False economy fitting part of the kit, as it may be quiet for a while, but the mix of old and new partsd means fast wear and then rattles agin ! Use composite head gaskets IMHO they make a tiny compression diffierence, but are so much betyter than tin ones as they cover up the scrapes and cuts that often are on older engines, much more forgiving. Be very wary of shoving a load of FORTE engine cleaner in the de-crud the top end - i've known it clean the bottom end out too, athen the whole engine knocked as the crud was what was stopping the big ends kniocking ! 17. er Oxy Acet and TIG welding its an "Art Form", do not expect to be able to do quality Oxy welding without training, MIG many learn on a "practise" basis, and some do ok, others still looks horrible. Oxy and Ali TIG welding - forget it, many prof welders MAKE it look easy, its not, and it does need to be taught IMHO. Buy MIG, and then contact your local colleage a nmight cousre is well worth it, normally they cover MIG TIG ARC Gas cutting, plasma cutting brazing etc, you won't be certified at the end of it, but your welding will be a whole laod better ! 18. Hmmpfh to the lot of you ................ The things to also consider on any welder is the actual usable power and how it works, and the "Duty Cycle". Basically if the welder will weld say 6mm, that is really saying say a 3mm piece of pipe to a 3mm piece of tube - 6mm for full penetration, it does NOT mean a 6mm piece of tube to a 6mm piece of plate etc... Then the Duty Cycle. If you turn up the power and you then weld something the higher the welder output is the hotter it gets, the closer you get to the max setting the faster it will get so hot as to trip out. Small welders running high outputs you can find just trip trip and trip again, causing real frustrations, so, buy the BIGGEST welder you can afford, then run it at half power, you'll find it will just keep going . Other things to consider are : Ensure it has a "Euro Torch" coupler and this simply means you can replace the torch, a fixed unit is false economy, and lastly ones that ake a full size BOC bottlle (disposables are bl^^dy expensive and don't last long) and a full size wire reel. If you feeling flush buy one with a cooper transformer too. ESAB, SIP (grey Models - I have a SIP 230), Sureweld, Cebora are just a few I have used and would recomend. HTH Nige

Either I'm becoming saner as I get older, I'm getting luckier, or ....no, I don't wnat to think about that thought Oh, and Mr Fridge made a commet too Nervous ? ..........me ? .............Yep Nige
