We have to rectify a damaged 300 head. How deep can we go? manual says only 0.08, but we think we can go further...... any ideas?
-
Thanks a lot. How can I inspect the slack? How difficult is to change it?
-
Thanks a lot for your answers, they are really useful. Have somebody used Iron Man? here in Colombia are really common in Toyota and Nissan, but they can't really trade with big weights. Are yoou sure with a 2" lift is mandatory to change pipes?
-
Good day. I know this is a really smashed subject, but I really don't have time for a proper investigation (because of work). A friend of mine have to decide in 3 days which lift kit he must buy in US (he's coming back from there). It's a 300 TDi 1998 Disco 1, no ABS no sunroof. He wants to buy the best option for:
- medium off road use (not a real greenlane crazy, but ocasionally see some mud)
- good weight capacity
- ride comfort
- performance at corners and high speed straight-line
Besides, he have 2 questions:
- It's OK to lift 2" only changing springs and shock absorbers?
- It's a must to change steering bars and joints for HD versions?
These 3 are the options he is thinking on. Additional suggestions are welcomed.... thanks a lot

My TD5 MY99 used to do this from time to time. After almost one year, I discovered by accident that was a little cable going in short circuit in the harness of alternator. Don't know why, but it sends a wrong signal to the ECU...... if you need photos please let me know.....
-
Good day. Can you tell me if it's mandatory for TD5 to change distribution chain once you have reached 200.000 km?
-
Air flow meter. Just disconnect it and try.....
-
TD4 is the name for Puma in almost all the non-european world......

That look like Jeep carp. I already have seen this as an styling excercise, but it's supposed to be an "official" release by now.

My MAF has been disabled last 6 months with no difference at all until it reach 3000 rpm.... there starts a lack of power......
Recently I had a problem with morning starts, but it results to be the batt connectors with serious corrosion (not visible, I had to take off the clamps in order to see it).....
White smoke? in TD5 is almost always a EGR concern...
-
Don't know the 200, but I think it's even easier than with my TD5, and I have towed a Nissan Patrol with 13 people inside in high range 3 and 4 all time.... off course on road, good pavement and really plain....
-
No, here we have the old version, made in Brazil or Peru, don't remember.... they are really expensive here
-
It's a shame here in Colombia we can't have those KM2.....
-
Beautiful car, what brand are those?
-
Hi Ross. Do you have any picture of your car? what kind of suspension you have?
-
Good day. I'm looking for 235/85, but have found that for a few additional bucks I can have a 255/85.... can I put this in my car with no restiction in an standar rim (5.5)? I don't want to modify anything.....
-
What kind of rev counter can I use instead of the genuine one? here in Colombia the original one costs about the same money of a 2A Series, jejejeje.... besides, I work in a company who imports all kind of accesories, so maybe I have it in inventory here in the warehouse.......
-
Mine came from LRseries with no problem at all, working ok, and it's OEM
-
Thanks a lot Gromit, It finally were fuses 11 and 12, as you said. It's almost incredible, but my fuse cover sticker have a wrong positions printed.....
-
Fuses OK, relays OK, not an obvious short..... have checked all earth with no result
-
Good day. Yesterday everything was OK, but suddenly dashboard lights have come off, as the rear position ones. However, headlights (both medium and high), brake lights, anti fog and reverse lights work OK. What can it be?

I'm interested in a HD option for my clutch too, please give us opinions.....
How much can I cut in a 300 head?

Thanks a lot for the link. We know there are a lot of things we can do the manual rejects, but we don't have the experience... seriously you can weld a TD5 head? that's one of the best news I have received this year. Everytime I take my car for a long trip I'm afraid it will be the last....
