  1. Thanks, I shall get it looked at by my local indie lR garage.
  2. Thanks reb78 Any rough idea what a typical garage might charge if its the above, including parts and fit?
  3. LR Defender 110 300tdi, BF Goodrich 265x75x16 on Boost Alloys My Defender has started to suffer from steering wheel judder between 40 - 50mph. I’ve had the front wheels balanced but it’s still the same. It’s driven fine for years until recently Any suggestions to what might be the cause please?
  4. I do often get that sound when the tank is empty and I remove the filler cap to add fuel.
  5. So a wire from the battery +ve to the solenoid? Is that to listen for the plunger activating inside?
  6. Was driving my 300TDI Defender along in 5th gear at 50mph yesterday when the engine suddenly cut out. I pressed the clutch to freewheel along and tried to start it again, it was turning over but wouldn't start. Had to pull over and come to a stop. Tried starting the engine again but it was still the same, engine would turn over but wouldn't start. After 5 mins I was just about to ring recovery when I tried again and it started perfectly, and I drove home fine. So, any ideas what it could be? Earthing problem? Faulty fuel pump solenoid?
  7. Thanks. My 110 hasn't been getting much use lately since buying a GSA motorbike which is why the battery needs some attention.
  8. Do I need to remove my battery from my 300tdi to charge it, or can I just connect my Ctek charger to it whilst its still in situ? Would this cause any issues with the electrics? Cheers.
  9. Ive got the exact same problem, my wiper fuse keeps blowing when I turn the ignition on. Ive replaced the wiper stalk/switch as I suspected this was the cause, but still not working. By the way, the fuse box cover says it should be a 10amp fuse, but the one I removed was a 15amp!!
  10. They aren't responding to my emails either, and Im trying to offer them my old bulkhead.
  11. Not the easiest thimg to measure, but 35" high (at it highest point) & 62" wide. I found it a horrible bulky item to lift & carry on my own
  12. My 110 300tdi double cab is going in for a respray next month. Only having the outside done, plus door shuts etc. Its costing me around £1500 using metalic paint. Im gradually sripping all the trims etc off myself, then removing the doors, windows & handles when I get to the spray shop. Over the past few months Ive been buying various replacement parts such as door hinges, brunell front grill/headlight surrounds, new rear door etc. When its finished it should look like a completely different vehicle, what with the galv chassis etc it had fitted last year. The spending never stops does it
  13. Ive got one in my garage, Ill give it a measure for you once Ive cleared a route through the junk thats surrounding it.
  14. have a look at the Defender2 forum as well
  15. My NFU renewal went up from £250 to £490 this year . Switched to Lancaster insurance for £212
  16. Peter, have a look on the Defender2 forum, the topic has been discussed over there. Basically, I think utility models made after 2010 (or similar) qualify for reduced price tax disc.
  17. Ive just bought this from ebay.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HIRSCHMANN-AUTO-16V-AM-FM-DAB-CAR-ROOF-AERIAL-NEW-/170374106707?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27ab168e53 Its DAB/FM combined. Not fitted yet, but I plan to mount it on the front sloping part of the roof, directly above the interior light for easy access.
  18. These are the ones Id recommend http://www.rjlandrovers.co.uk/ Got them myself but havent fitted em yet (so perhaps I shouldnt be recommedning them?) but they are the TD5 type with nylon inner sleeve to prevent friction/rust. As I understand it, the top and bottom hinges are slightly diffferent to each other (obviously the front door top hinge has the wing mirror holes in it) so they need to be positiooned correclty. Or is it the left door/right door hinges that differ?
  19. Inspect/replace the windscreen wiper spindles that protrude through the bulkhead. Same with the wiper motor.
  20. I had an Ashtree galv bulkhead fitted to my 300tdi last summer. I used a guy called Paul who has his workshop next door to Richards chassis, to fit it along with a Richards galv chassis. So I cant comment on how easy it was to fit etc. Ashtree arent cheap, but they provided great service, spraying it to the colour of my choice before delivering. If you can afford it, I highly recommend them both.
  21. Thanks pedro. The Frosts link is very useful mahon257, thanks.
  22. Thanks for the reply So if I read it correctly, after applying mordant solution you then gave it two coats of primer and then the POR15? Think I'll have a go this spring. Cheers
  23. Nice work I had a Richards galv chassis fitted to my 300tdi last year, very pleased with it. Can you tell me the proceedure you used to apply the POR15 please. Did you have to T-wash or etch prime the chassis prior to application? I wouldnt mind doing my rear crossmember, rock sliders and front bumper perhaps.
