  1. I am fitting a Saab 900o seat into my truck cab passnger side - a friend is welding plates to use old captive bolt holes etc - but too high and big in drivers seat - I would imagine they would fit in front of 110 - or 2nd row - but ask on - cost = ebay £50 a set of saab leather 9000 seats front and rear - rear could make a workshop sofa but not in a 110 chrisp
  2. Can I ask the question - how much did it cost? it is good to hear positive stuff and it sounds like being on site is the best way - but 'ow much (new seats are 300) chrisp

  7. I bought a TDV6 S in March - 60,000 miles - manual - yes - risky combo since 1 year warranty with dealer - but at 17k it seemed best value around- have a few wonders about post warranty but .......there is so much to worry about if you want in life why add more? it is great - but i feel too big for town even though spends much of its life on tarmac - wife loves it too my other lr is 90 truck cab 1987 go beyond - i agree LR and other manufacturers are often suspect - but if you can find indy or trusted main dealer then great (of which our family volvo is looked after by squire furneaux in high wycombe - fabulous and helpful and do not spend your money for you- ) re D3? i agree buy one.......
  8. We are possibly moving to Australia do we take our old 90 ?do we take our 2001 Volvo estate? what is actual cost to ship? - are we mad? are Australian regulations different to UK? any experience welcome Chrisp
  9. Thanks - it gave me confidence,it was the window track, came loose & almost irrepairable, have araldited it, but the felt inner is shot have done a botch job, really need more new doors - set 2 thansk again
  10. I had window assembly replaced - - 8 months ago and now its seized..can just about wind up drivers window - am planning to undo door card and winder handle to look tomorrow - but.......has anyone any expereince of thsi trivial but irritataing thing? ia m a novice of novices but will have a look - otherwise - will sadly go back to people who fitted new window stuff - no names yet - but i found them expensive and seemingly running a biz to fund their own toys . There are others who, if I lived near enough, that i would trust with my life - for example the bucks at devon 4x4 are the best folk - anyway sorry about that ramble hope for suggestions tomorrow regards chrisp
  11. I wish I had known what yellow has suggested. I took out old headliner in my truck cab - (which was a cut down from a 90/110 hard top) and washed it with Autoglym interior cleaner I think and a karcher - i too wanted to reglue and despite trying a recommended spray it fell down. The adhesive was claimed to be for car related commercial use but the roof as a 'frying pan affect' is I suspect the problem here - I also tried putting insulation under but then realsied it would get condensation - silicone sealant is great idea - so ended up putting lining back - it strangley fitted without adhesive - washing shrank it? Radio in roof is OK unless have tall passengers and I also think its another object to hit when off-roading. Good luck chrisp
  12. Can I attcah a question to this trail - I want to reduce noise and thought fillinfg the batter vy box with foam - type stuff might work - does anyone have any ideas - i cannot afford noisekiller stuff right now and have bught rubber matts from nickthe ornage which help but i thought 'if i squirt that aeroseol foram insulationary stuff around the battery that will fill a box and reduce some noise - am i right , wrong or plain insane cheers chrisp any idea to cheap deaden my sound would be welcome
  13. Slightly off topic but - what tyre pressure would be best for fuel economy since diesel is so costly now and my chunky Macho's may well be dragging when on road and costing more on short non green lane journeys? Is high presure right and how high for round town? Thanks Chrisp
  14. look at 4x4cb.com - lots of choices and jim helpful too
  15. Billargio are a fair way from you but, they are arguably the finest customisers - aircraft quality sound proofing -you name it -
  16. I just got back - now i wait anxiously...will it pass? Apparently if no seat it is tested as no seat/s - so i left new seat in and told the gentleman that i would be bolting it in - he said when - is aid next week - he said ok but my main concern is levels of corrosion - great truck cab but i cannot repair bulkhead (cost) myself lets see what happens in the hands of the gods Chrisp PS thanks for prompt replies guys
  17. hELLO i have removed passenger seat to paint - should it be there for MOT which is booked for today? Chrisp
  18. If this is verboten on the forum - let me know But I need some advice - I need, not want, to sell my 1987 90 truck cab - it has 2 inch lift winch bumper and winch - recently new motor and serviced - and has 300 tdi - brand new replacement after the turbo diesel original died!!!! so it has new transfer box and engine and props etc so underneath the skin its all fantastic and drives and handles so beautifully bodywork is a bit scabby - I have 2 soft tops and poles and a hard top - never fitted it - the new engine has done about 5000 miles - the rest of her 88000 as per usual on her age vehicles, bulkhead is rotting and has had some repair but will need more and i cannot afford to do full replacement since i have been quoted 2-4k! since its so much labour ands beyond my abilities So if I advertise despite age what is she worth - i know its what someone will pay but any ideas? I will probably sell her with one old soft top and sell new one and possibly sell winch too - unless can get some money back cheers for ideas
  19. I have a 1987 truck cab - but with 300tdi i put in and, a 2004 discovery 3 -new to me but second hand- congestion will be 25 dsoon and then there's emissions in 2010- i do not kno wif i think ken is money making or actually doing a good thing - Boris is a journo first and so wil not be a good mayor -would s norris have been better? The gas guzzling stuff is simply rhetoric to divert our attention and find someone to scapegoat - i do drive in chelsea and was three 20 minutes ago but the key thing is this governmnet for whom i voted , but regret, have tried to change the nature of the UK in 10 years by a 'criminlaising ideology' = if you object you are bad- if you agree you are virtuous. They make Maggie look almost sweet smelling - she was cruel but not entirely hypocritical- BUT - if we do not want to agree to demonisisng 4x4's, conkers, britsih bulldog etc then we need to get togther in some lobby In 4x4's there is - G.L.A.S.S. and other groups who well and gently fight for rights we need more of this whining is what a gearbox should do not a human I don't know where to start but someone out there will Sean's post, which i have just read is true - if we do not stand- we fail..........
  20. I have just called CC/TFL and asked about fact my 90 has a 2004 TDi 300 new engine and so it may be Euro III - apparently if I send Cert and V5 they will look at whether I will be xempt in 2010 - mind you I am thinking of selling hence question about 110 Double Cabs - looking for one after 2001 with off road bits but has to be good looking because of work/customers - my 90 looks like its just left a war zone - v characterful all set up but...too rugged Chrisp
  21. This is a bit restricted but - I am thinking of changing my 300tdi 90 truck cab for a td5 110 double cab - but am aware that the congestion charge/TFL have low emissions regs regarding diesels coming in which may affect 'commercial vehicles' like a 110 double cab- is it about year/reg e.g. pre 200 or something else and so what is the impact on cost? Any way to avoid? or pay £8 etc only Bit odd topic but TFL website is not v helpful - surprise eh? Thanks
  22. I recently spoke to Gigglepin - they replacebulkheads but have it dipped - total cost 250 plus 250 or so...but I too assume they will last longer than i will keep the lr Boltonbits on ebay also sell new bulkheads - not sure whether they are galvinised or not I am in 2 minds about keeping my off road 90 which is great and also has a brand new 300 tdi and gearbox/transfer box - since the bulkhead will need work/replacing in te next 2 years so i may sell - its not a project i would try = but hope this helps chrisp
  23. My dash of my 87 truck cab is black but i would like to recover it and/or repaint it - ideally BEIGEish -( despite this affliction) can anyone suggest from expereince what to do if you wnat to change colour? - ebay dash's always black thanks Chrisp
  24. I have put Saab 900 front seats in my 90 pickup - there is an issue re getting to battery etc - currently seats are not bolted down.....but they are higher than 90 seats so if you ate too much at xmas - like me you may notice how near the wheel is to you but...they are fabulously comfortab;e - they raise up to give shorter legs a chance and are heated but not connected and they are leather too but do not fold to allow the stuff you want in - but the lumbar support is fantastic - look on ebay for saab 9000 interiors velour or hide i am still trying to think how to fix them - someone siggeted chequer plate with rubber underneath to stop metal on metal abrasion/nosie but how do i get to battery oif they are bolted or rivetted? ideas graefully accepted regards chrisp 1987 90 truck cab
