  1. I asked the 'tester about it Les - I wanted to make sure he used a Tapley, which he had - he put it down to the 'super efficient' front brakes and over heavy 'rear end'
  2. Stephen - Maris Piper is best Roverdrive - inside really, but can work well on outside. Outside is best clean and then a smear and polish of photocopier oil
  3. 30 quid and fill in the details! The missed non fuctioning rear brakes on the RR once - pipe was flattened so no fluid could pass through
  4. Stephen you don't use cooked potato, you cook it later. I thought you Southern Atlantic rufty tufty types would know about tatties. Cut the spud in half and wipe the cut surface over the screen/visor, leave it to go slightly tacky then polish in with a soft rag
  5. Potato works as well as any product - it's very good. Works well on visors as well and you can eat it
  6. On the 100", the exhaust is very close to the bulkhead (it's a Disco 200Tdi, Defender thing) so I have made up an aluminium heat shield - this worked well until until some less than genteel off roading left me shieldless. I aquired a small run of heat wrap as a temporary measure - that was about 6 months ago. It's very good.
  7. Excellent winch - very well made - quicker than most on full load The Outback 9500 from T-max is also very good
  8. Will, What I meant was parts availability for warrantee replacement - what's it like The other thing is power - to be honest the 2 TGVs I have driven have been no more impressive than a well tuned 200Tdi and have used far more fuel
  9. But what about warrantee replacement Will?
  10. That looks rather nice Tim - any chance of a brief test drive? BTW I notice the unpainted rivets are still there!
  11. No Reply so I am hoping he will notice this
  12. So you were the guy I mentioned the Idiot Disco Driver too as we passed like strangers in the mud!
  13. What's happening me old money spender?
  14. The R3880 is an easier and smoother box to drive BUT NOT a better box than the LT77 I was also going to say almost excatly what SteveG said but he beat me to it... IMLTHO the TD5 is the best OFF ROAD engine LR have yet made (obviously the jury is out on the Transit lump as it is untested). The 2.TGV is not even in the equation thanks to it's lack of parts and rarety. The more I drive the TD5, the more I see of modded and simplified TD5's the more I have to eat my words and except it is a bl**dy good engine In this situation though I think the options are: Re-built 200Tdi or 2.8 Isuzu and LT77 TD5 and replacement box (auto being very high on the list)
  15. A lasting memory. What a ****! The type of ******* who has lost us so many decent lanes and caused so much grief. And to see him not only driving like a complete Terry but breaking the law to boot. Then there was his mate in the 90TC, driving the public highway with someone standing in the back... The to bring it all to the boil not only does he drive like a complete **** ******* ***** but he ***** up his engine in the process James - nice LtWt mate, very smooooth. we were the group you passed up by the Airfield IIRC
  16. Tony, Were you the Disco in company with a 90 Truck Cab?
  17. Will, I think it is unfair of yourself to use the word insufferable, you are far, far from that. In fact I would honestly say that you are a very pleasant, very genuine, earnest young man. You are also massive value for money and very entertaining. Very few of your posts fail to make me smile even on the sh*ttiest of days - this forum would be a poorer place without you.
  18. Thanks Jim, coffee all over my desk and laptop, my secretary now thinks I am having a heart attack
  19. Has Captain Birdseye's Ibex still got those crappy over soft coilovers?
  20. Oh yes and in such a minor loss of forward and reward motion way... I found out that James is human on Saturday
  21. Nothing better than a quick pull off - James is a great believer in the whole process.
  22. It wasn't a bad stuck really at least not for someone of James's skills
