  1. hmmm interesting, how do you go about the 24v bit? bowmotor is easy, its ,just elektrickeryaint my strong point!!
  2. as much as i would like to i just cant quite afford a gigglepinned 8274, so that got me wondering is there anything out there for a lad like me with an ep9/tds type winch front and rear on a challenge truck? i'm after a bit more speed when pulling than the std winch gives. i was wondering about a bowmotor2, would that give me more speed as its got more power behind it than the std motor? or is there something out there that will magically transform my ep9 into a monster?
  3. was working on a mates landrover the other day and he mentioned this new thing by greenfoot global, a tablet that you put in your tank that gives you 50% more economy/power less emissions etc etc, read the site and thought oooh snake oil and ive just listened to there "webinar" where it basically seem like a pyramid scam. anyhoo below is the text from the home page anyone want to point out how many things are wrong/****e/contradictory????? actualy the real reason i put this here is because there are some people on here much more cleverer than me and i want to go back to him and counter each and every point he puts forward! ta! EnviroTabs® is an organometallic metal conditioner that acts as a burn rate modifier which catalyzes fuel. This action allows more of the fuel to burn in the power stroke of the engine and therefore less fuel burns in the exhaust stroke. EnviroTabs® simultaneously improves fuel economy, increases power and reduces emissions by creating a micro-thin coating in the combustion chamber of your engine which allows fuel to burn quicker. EnviroTabs® burns off carbon deposits and catalytically causes a chemical reaction to happen at a lower temperature. The fuel particles begin to combust at temperatures as low as 200º C, as opposed to 600° C. This chemical reaction allows the impurities and the hard carbon deposits to completely burn off. EnviroTabs® changes the surface heat absorption characteristics of metal. Note: The greatest loss in efficiency in an automobile engine is the loss of heat. Heat is energy released by the mixture of fuel and air; which produces a heat spike, which creates expansion used to power the vehicle. The cylinder walls and head are water cooled, and the pistons are oil cooled. The thin coating inhibits the transfer of radiant heat. This means higher combustion temperature, greater expansion and more power with reduced emissions. By increasing the burn in the combustion chamber (rather than as after-burn) performance can be increased while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Heat recovery is the single best method that can reduce harmful emissions, increase fuel economy, improve engine performance and extend oil and engine life.
  4. thats what i want! i dont want it to look rough just not bright shiny! it has to be re painted as the PO pinted it and wiped the panels with a damp cloth then sprayed over it then with the frost this year it split the paint and as such it looks like its been spattered with white paint from front to back that and its about 4 shades too dark
  5. i'm going to repaint my s2a shortly as the PO had told me it was done in marine blue, however the rear tub paint is flaking off and its apparant its not the right shade of blue. thing is i dont want the landy to be all shiny and glossy i want a bit of patina to the paint finish but i'm not sure how to go about it. any ideas?
  6. an uprated allisport intercooler for a 300tdi RRC she had spelt something wrong in the title, think it was intercollar!! anyway got it delivered to southern ireland for the eqv of £35!! and she threw in the modified rad frame as well!!
  7. if he informed everyone then how come 99% of people on there didnt know and couldnt find the new web address? i got an email informing me it was being "upgraded" with the "help" of lrm 2 days after stumbling across the new "improved" site.
  8. just to clarify i only heard a rumour it had been sold. it is now under the headline of "landrover monthly powered by landrover addict" its not a matter of patience while things are sorted. to me its a matter of principle that we forum users were not told that the change was happening, we have lost pm's with contact info, we have lost build threads with photo's, we have had a load of advertising foisted on us, we have had the format changed without telling us, FFS to send a pm you have to type in a security code!! it seems a very cynical marketing ploy by LRM, they can now go to their advertisers and say we have this website with all these hits and you can advertise on it for €xx.
  9. bigfoot sold it to LRM and didnt tell anyone so all anyone knew was what you found. lot of people are Mildly miffed off including me, so much so i deleted my account after 1400+posts.
  10. number 4 inj on my p38 is wet and leaking so the side of the block is wet with diesel, are they the same on the bmw 525 tds/omega as theres a bimmer scrapped near me and i can have the injectors for free! is this a common thing or is it likely to be a seal that i can just swap out? ta mutchly vince
  11. i have access to a lot of 15w40 castrol tection semi-synth oil at work (ie free!!) would this be suitable oil for a 2000my p38a diesel?? rave suggests 10w40.... any suggestions??
  12. thank you kind sirs!! off to do my homework!!
  13. lads i'm looking for a new pipe bender, i have one of those hyd push benders that you get off the pikeys which has served well. i'm wondering what the next verion up the line is?? obviously its not going to be a computer controlled thingy but its got to be better than what i have. budget of around a €1000/£750 whats out there? what to avoid etc etc TA!
  14. when you fit hydro assist to the steering do you/should you fit heavier TRE's? we already run heavy duty steering/draglink rods and TRE's but i was thinking the forces involved to turn 35" tyres lock to lock on your nose would kind overwhelm the TRE's??
  15. silverstones? been using them for the last 2 snakepits and 3 3peaks, not had any trouble with them at all. they do measure up a little on the small side though! we picked them because the centre lugs are wider spaced than the simex and we found that they self clear very well.
  16. **** thats tough, a friend over here went thru similar a few years ago. there's some series bits here if he needs anything (bit of a spin though!!)
  17. **** me nige your a disaster!! oh and you owe me anew keyboard(again) as this one has nasal coffee on it(again)
  18. a mate had one with ceramic coated internals, flowed head, 2 hoooge intercoolers etc etc it used to pull like a train and i do remember seeing the turbo glowing!! he's registered on here so i'll get him to post the fll spec!
  19. thanks for all the replies lads, most useful!!
  20. hard to put pics up of a vapour build...!!!! its still in the planning stage but its going to be bullnosed hence the rear mounted rad. got a mate in a radiator company so will probably get him to custom make something... all we have so far is a 300tdi auto disco rolling chassis, which is going to have the out riggers cut off and a tube/buggy/spaceframe made up, hopefully running 40" when allowed and 35's for every day stuff. very much in the planning and gathering stage at the moment, the build proper will start after the threepeaks in october.
  21. what's the story with rear mounted rads regarding the water pumps? i presume that the std engine driven pumps wouldnt be man enough? do you mount them high so gravity helps the water back into the rad? i presume some sort of aux water pump is needed?? tryin gto get my head round things so would like to see what others are doing. i'm not sure what engine yet although it will be diesel!
  22. well what did cause it then?? methane emmissions from cows and sheep alone account for(i think i read somewhere) 15% of global warming. so i dont think that statement is far from the truth.
  23. cool site fridge!! what caused the global warming that caused the last ice age?? dinosaurs farting i presume!!!!! as a side note do the 4.6 range rovers suffer the liner slip problem??
  24. woops i've had to aplogise! it turns out my mondeo estate is a whole 40mm shorter than a range rover. why dont we all clog there site with comments? i've got three up there now!!
