  1. Oh yes! I always take goodies to Sodbury and play days etc. It's how I bribe people to be my friend! One year I took bat cookies... And was offering people a free muffin with every X-eng purchase - Si hasn't asked me back on the stand since
  2. Absolutely! If you've ever been involved in a break down in lane 3, with cars coming past you on the inside at 70 mph, you'll know how valuable we are!
  3. Stephen - Don't you dare - Mr Beaumont has already changed it once! I said I would prefer Alderney, she's the cute blonde womble, but no - Madame Cholet it is. Feeding cakes to the rest of you at Sodbury etc!
  4. I have a mate See you guys - I CAN help sometimes - I'm not just a token girl!
  5. Err, Hypothetically - you only had one hand on the wheel, and your eyes on the phone ( I presume it was your phone) in your hand - It's illegal to use a phone whilst driving, £60 and 3 penalty points Mr Bickerton! TUT! You're grounded!
  6. John did wake me up however, to tell me some of my collegues had helped him on his merry way. Well actually they were a bit abusive by the sound of things. We are NOT wombles JB. We provide a valuable service to the motoring public. Traffic Officers
  7. Been there (well Strata Florida) done that, (well ok didn't actually get across) and have the towel. I wonder if she'd have forgiven you if the car had hit a boulder and turned over, how long was the walk home?
  8. I thought he'd killed that thing! Wonder if he ever got a gear knob... I didn't go to the show as I was at work, but I had a great time spotting LR's driving down the M6. I my job.
  9. [mother mode] JB - what on earth did you think you were doing taking photos of vehicles whilst driving? Hmmn? Do you think that's clever? Or even legal? Up to your room now, and think about what you did wrong [/mother mode] Edited to say: Just realised you were on the motorway, in lane two. Don't expect me to come scrape your blooded remains from off the tarmac young man!
  10. Its far cheaper and easier to change your name to match your plate. Quick call to the deed Poll offices and £40 on your card. Henceforth I wish to be known as Wendoline Avril Virginia.
  11. It seems that your heart is saying Series III, your head is saying 90. So if you can afford the time and money, go for the Series III, the if you find that it's a pain in the backside after you've lovingly refurbed it, you can sell it and go for the 90. But what do I know? I'm a girl!
  12. The spots are fixed to welded plates and the bar's bolted on like this:
  13. I put mine on a seperate bar that's fixed to the roof bars - I can put the cross bars on if I need to still. Trying to post a pic - obviously being blonde doesn't help!
  14. Why do you want to make one? I guess the self tapers wouldn't have to be moved every time the grille hit something, and the plastic split....
  15. Hi Tom I'm often offended and made to feel dumb, but the Mods let me stay. I think it's something to do with the cookies and cake... When I was 16, I had a donkey jacket and monkey boots. I had to walk!
  16. I might just have to go then! thanks chaps. Maybe the puches will be tied to a marshall if theres no trees...
  17. I was handed a leaflet for this at my local LR parts place. Open 4x4 driving day - Farley Quarry Anyone thinking of going or know anything about these guys?
  18. I went up that the other weekend in the back of a Pinzgauer - mad fun - still got the bruises!
  19. No - I was on the late shift. That'll have been one of the other few girls!
  20. Accumulations of 2-5cm are expected quite widely inland, with 10-15cm possible for parts of the Midlands and Wales. oooh - that's enough to have a snowball fight! Superb!
  21. I drive a D3 for work. I was unfortunate to be involved in what could have been a nasty incident. As part of my job I had put a total closure on the motorway, IE cones, arrows, and lights accross the 3 lanes, and signals for 2 miles saying the motorway was closed. Unfortunately one bright Ford driver didn't spot the closure, and drove straight through the cones and arrows, and hit the back of the D3 at around 60 mph. The Ford was trashed, the engine block had split in half and the car was unrecognisable from the front. The D3 was drivable, although the tow bar and exhaust were bent under the vehicle, and the bumper and tailgate were badly bent. Fortunately I was not stood next to the D3, as I had been 2 mins prior, and the Ford driver got out in one piece and was fine. Driving into the back of a Disco is not a wise move, it seems the chassis (?) Towbar (?) pushes the offending car underneath.
  22. Taken off the Getting out there forum: Just thought I'd bring that into the mix....
  23. I however have very little knowledge - and rarely is my input valuable. But I seem to be accepted as harmless. I would prefer to not have a line drawn through me...
  24. When I helped remove one (4 years or so ago) it self sealed. I think they have to as a matter of safety. I mean - imagine some mindless idiot tinkering about with one...
  25. Isn't it great that we can have a forum that doen't rely on advertising tho. If I want to post about a bad experience I had with say Nene Overland, I could, and the post wouldn't get deleted or modified (I haven't had any dealings with them, good or bad). If Nene paid for space, the mods would have to keep them happy. I agree moderate advertising is OK, cos we get the benefit of their professional opinions, and they get the benefit of publicity. Although it's a fine balance to keep, which I think is what Les was refering to.
