  1. Does any one have an idea where to buy cheaply M6 and M8 helicoil inserts and tools?
  2. Jim, Maybe they don't. But I've already done on a set Cooper Discoverer SST over 50k miles and they still look pretty good. I had done roughly the same mileage on BFG M/T's, then switched to Coopers. So, who cares how long the BFG's last?
  3. Oh, c'mon. It's a hoax. Read this.
  4. Hello, If you want to keep the existing installation and only add new circuits, it's uselful to run one power cable from battery to a distribution point and split the output via two separate relays controlled by ignition and lights . A compact alternative to a bus bar (if fitted inside the cabin) is here: http://img-europe.electrocomponents.com/la.../R423958-91.jpg
  5. I suppose running in a comp safari once a month for a whole year equals to two weeks of driving with a full load on African dirt roads. The difference is that the comp safari machine can be rebuilt before a new season whereas the overland vehicle has to go on and on.
  6. Still more interesting: http://www.landroveraddict.com takes you straight to http://news.bbc.co.uk/
  7. So what's the solution for a better oil pressure alarm? If you put, say, a 15psi pressure switch to activate the alarm it will be too high for the low revs pressure and too low for the high revs pressure to save the engine. I'd be curious to know what others have done, apart from a bigger dahsboard lamp. Any suggestions?

  11. Nige, At Billing they were on display at the Equip4x4 and SR stands. I may be wrong but they are part of the Extreme suspension kit.
  12. Hi, Better hurry up! the TCP charts are going to be banned from this October - check this: http://tinyurl.com/brflo Have you tried http://www.themapshop.co.uk/ ?
  13. I got myself one of those: http://tinyurl.com/cd647 It has a retail price of over a grand but can be had for ca £200 from ebay. Pretty well built and will (hopefully) take a lot of punishment in the Sahara. As for the software suporting scanned maps on PDAs, I've been playing with Pathaway which uses imported scanned maps (including calibration) made for TT QuoVadis and Fugawi. Not as good as the moving map software for notebooks but does the job anyway. BTW, I have for sale scanned IGN 1:50 000 maps of Algeria and 1:100 000 maps of Europe. If any one is interested please send me a PM
  14. Hi all, Just got back from a long trip and discovered that everybody has moved over from LRE to this forum. So her I am too. Now, what's the body of opinion regarding these shocks? How do they perform? Are they robust enough for long trips? Do the remote reservoires make a big/little difrerence for the overall score? Any comments will be much appreciated.
