  1. theres a hole on the under side of a dizzy to let moisture out (also lets water in) u could run a breather to it

i'v seen them being fed into the snorkel so that any moisture is sucked out

I did that one mine - it made absolutely no difference whatsoever!

I took the entire dizzy out, dunked it in the kitchen sink under water and attached an air pump from my fish tank to a pipe that was drilled into the dizzy cap. I then sealed up with silicone all the holes in the entire thing (as evidenced by bubbles coming out underwater). I had two pipe into it - one going inside the cab (so drawing warm dry air) and one to vaccuum on the manifold. A plastic shroud made from an old lemondae bottle, new cap, leds etc etc etc and it was always absolutely hopeless in the wet!

I fitted EDIS in the end and it will now litterally run underwater! Plus if you manage to stall it in the water, it'll re-start first turn of the key too!!

EDIS is the way to go IMHO!

  2. Currently I have 750 x16 General SAG's. I want to change the tyres to a radial size, Probably Grabber AT2.

What is the equivalent radial size?

ooooh I used to have them!!! They were feckin lethal in the wet!!!!!

    Anyway what he said - 235/85 <_<

  3. Les,

Who made the chassis and was it any agro to get without a rear x member? I need to re-chassis my series and was thinking about getting something similar so I can add my own rear winch x-member!

    Cheers

  4. I've got a factory 300tdi auto softdash classic.

Its fine! Granted its not the quickest motor in the world, and a V8 is a hell of alot quicker, but it does over 25mpg!

Acceleration to about 60mph is fairly spritely, but it runs out of steam above here and takes an age to get to 80, although it'll cruise happily at 80, it does tend to slow down a bit uphill. But then its as aerodynamic as a portacabin, and probably wieghs 2 tonnes!

  5. Have to say i've tried all sorts of things and the best I've so far found is the standard 90 horn cos it doenst seem to mind mud too much and is reasonably loud!

I had a pair of horns off a mentego which come on a nice ickle bracket on there before, but they kept dieing cos of the mud!

  6. :-).......I nearly sideswiped a fiesta on the M27 yesterday for the same reason! Tonk was in the passenger seat panicing and I couldnt even see matey in the fiesta!

  7. Yeah you need an early 110 one. You need to fit the entire pedal box. Series dual circuit master will bolt up, but you'll need to trim the inner wing.

Dont try the larger diamter later defender one, as although it'll fit the bulkhead you'll find the bonnet wont shut!

  8. there used to ba an autoitalia place in ringwood that done performance parts for 500's 126's etc, bout 70 quid for the system, fitted very well, that was a long time ago though.

to answer your question, i guess if the box part is properly mounted to take its weight then flexi could be used, i dont know about balancing the back pressure on the pots though. i guess it wouldn't make much difference.

    usual disclaimer applies :D

Why do i get the worrying feeling that you used to own one of these???
