Having a ponder on this as on top of now needing to take the timing chest off I also need to change a swivel ball as it is pitted and now weeping fresh new EP90, didn't notice it when I first got it but then again seeing the two and 1/2 drips that came out when I rebuilt the front axle with 24 spline it is hardly surprising.
But not wanting to have another potential black mark against Rusty I was wondering whether t is possible or actually a good/bad idea to put one shot into the swivel housings as I run oil lubed bearings?
I saw a 1L bottle of liquid swivel grease when I was in Holland.
Any ideas?

Would you say the ball jointed knuckle type swivel was an improvement over the old pin and bearing system or just equally awkward just in a different way?
-
The front end of Rusty is finally being rebuilt but I can't stop the issue of security rifting around in my head, so collectively, what is likely to be the best solution to securing my shiny new winch on my Disco?
I have seen this vid on the tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvcGsUVyBnI
Obviously if you have a special method then feel free to PM if you don't want to discuss on an open forum

Don't think so unless he keeps it full as I muddled the pipes up after I accidentally cut through them on my mates motor and it ran out of fuel after 3/4 tank.

Not sure I see any advantage of running a semi floating hub over a fully floating hub considering the application of the portal boxes! I think they are cheaper to produce too due to the lacking hardware on there in terms of stub axles and fully floating shafts.
Not sure I like the idea of losing a wheel coz I hit the loud pedal at the wrong moment!

MOT booked for 2 weeks time!!!
You still need to get in touch with the guy for the series limo

Think I am tempted to bin the Rusty one in favor of this

If was still on the rock Bowie I'd have had a day trip up with you to pick it up
I want to know what the length of it is, gotta be somewhere over the 6mtr mark surely ??

Have you tried a farmers type place if you have one near you-as the local to me mole valley farmers do boiler suits for less than £20 and they're good enough to weld in too
And Nigel have a look here mate: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.Xwelders+apron&_nkw=welders+apron&_sacat=0&_from=R40
Hope this helps?
John
Thanks John, I wasn't complaining though

Some of the guys here have good reports kn the Viair kit, Leon bought the full kit with reservoir and said it was a dream to fit with good clear instructions and all the bjts he needed.
Others run an ARB compressor if just for the one diff.
-
Not strictly what you asked for but I highly recommend my Dickies quilted boiler suit - it's great for these cold evenings in the garage
Currently looking for similar over here now, good call!!!
Hate the polycotton things with a passion, two sessions welding and grinding and they are fit for the bin!
Been looking for leather apron with thigh chaps but every google search takes me to random S&M and bondage gear

Can't remember if you run a lift or not, but I would be tempted to just fit a standard aftermarket prop as there is so little in it price wise and be confident in the knowledge that there is no play in the sliding joint.
But certainly worth contacting Gwyn with regards the seemingly early expiration of the HD unit on your seemingly low mileage.
-
Really not sure if they actually meet CD&U regs with the head light now actually being a spot light and indicator not being where it should, good attempt but ultimately a fail!
Sure we will see them on a magazine spread motor and then highlighted the cool factor lol.
-
Could someone explain the price please ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200992379755
Best To Come And Look Before Pressing The Buy It Now Button
stupid offers will be ignored as I know what I can get for this if I break it up
Erm think he may have put one too many zeros in there as scrap aint that expensive.
Not sure what he thinks he has got there but never seen a reg like that before so maybe it's something but most likely a chancer.
-
Alternatively, it looks like lrseries and britcar sell hardy spicer propshafts for around 70 quid, although I have a fear that they will come in blue boxes.
Johan got a blue box special as that was all he could get quickly and it contained a Bailey Morris Prop
-
Maybe? But what does Gwyn give as tolerance?
I put my solid front prop from my old V8 on Rusty when I rebuilt the front axle as they are a wider angle yolk, 106,000miles and the slip joint had zero flex in it, can't speak for the UJs as they can be changed and you'd never know.
Good that I mention that as forgot to upgrade the part No.s in my book, gotta dash OCD moment about to occur.

I tried the bumper and it will only take M10 bolts, will try to get them in 10.9 just to air on the side of caution, but otherwise 8.8 it will be in metric with new nylocs.
-
Metric or UNF do you think? Probably better to fit nylocs too, but was wondering about some of those security bolts jost to make removal that little bit more difficult for me in the future

Need some help tonight, whilst laying under himself tending to a few other jobbies now the welding is catching up I had a small drip land on my head, now I immediately brushed this off as "condensation" with me being laid under there for 45 minutes and it being barely +3C but when I moved my crawling mats I noticed a damp patch, inspection sort of showed the back of the timing case but possibly thermostat housing.
Now my truck had been running HOAT green antifreeze until I needed to rob his rad, and I then promptly topped him off with ethylene glycol as all I had and not wanting to risk severe frost damage in the sub minus 10s but a while ago I did flush the whole system through and refill it with all new ethylene glycol as I prefer what I know.
But I have a vague recollection of the two being mixed they will react and eat away at gaskets and seals, or am I being paranoid?
Any guesses what gasket or seal it is as I am not 100% with a diesel lump, used to be a V8 man
Any help greatly appreciated.

Well it has tax and MOT... more info to come.
Ryan air? Or easy jet?
-
It will be 6 for the bumper but the front 4 hold on the bash plate and "A" bar.

Anyone used this kit from Terrafirma for a 200Tdi Disco?

Those sound mats look handy for inside the door cards and maybe under the bonnet?
This is just ridiculous
