  1. Having a ponder on this as on top of now needing to take the timing chest off I also need to change a swivel ball as it is pitted and now weeping fresh new EP90, didn't notice it when I first got it but then again seeing the two and 1/2 drips that came out when I rebuilt the front axle with 24 spline it is hardly surprising.

But not wanting to have another potential black mark against Rusty I was wondering whether t is possible or actually a good/bad idea to put one shot into the swivel housings as I run oil lubed bearings?

I saw a 1L bottle of liquid swivel grease when I was in Holland.

    Any ideas?

  2. Not sure I see any advantage of running a semi floating hub over a fully floating hub considering the application of the portal boxes! I think they are cheaper to produce too due to the lacking hardware on there in terms of stub axles and fully floating shafts.

Not sure I like the idea of losing a wheel coz I hit the loud pedal at the wrong moment!

  3. Not strictly what you asked for but I highly recommend my Dickies quilted boiler suit - it's great for these cold evenings in the garage

Currently looking for similar over here now, good call!!!

Hate the polycotton things with a passion, two sessions welding and grinding and they are fit for the bin!

Been looking for leather apron with thigh chaps but every google search takes me to random S&M and bondage gear :moglite::moglite::moglite:

  4. Can't remember if you run a lift or not, but I would be tempted to just fit a standard aftermarket prop as there is so little in it price wise and be confident in the knowledge that there is no play in the sliding joint.

But certainly worth contacting Gwyn with regards the seemingly early expiration of the HD unit on your seemingly low mileage.

  5. Could someone explain the price please ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200992379755

Best To Come And Look Before Pressing The Buy It Now Button

stupid offers will be ignored as I know what I can get for this if I break it up

Erm think he may have put one too many zeros in there as scrap aint that expensive.

Not sure what he thinks he has got there but never seen a reg like that before so maybe it's something but most likely a chancer.

  6. Alternatively, it looks like lrseries and britcar sell hardy spicer propshafts for around 70 quid, although I have a fear that they will come in blue boxes.

Johan got a blue box special as that was all he could get quickly and it contained a Bailey Morris Prop :o

  7. Maybe? But what does Gwyn give as tolerance?

I put my solid front prop from my old V8 on Rusty when I rebuilt the front axle as they are a wider angle yolk, 106,000miles and the slip joint had zero flex in it, can't speak for the UJs as they can be changed and you'd never know.

Good that I mention that as forgot to upgrade the part No.s in my book, gotta dash OCD moment about to occur.

  8. Need some help tonight, whilst laying under himself tending to a few other jobbies now the welding is catching up I had a small drip land on my head, now I immediately brushed this off as "condensation" with me being laid under there for 45 minutes and it being barely +3C but when I moved my crawling mats I noticed a damp patch, inspection sort of showed the back of the timing case but possibly thermostat housing.

Now my truck had been running HOAT green antifreeze until I needed to rob his rad, and I then promptly topped him off with ethylene glycol as all I had and not wanting to risk severe frost damage in the sub minus 10s but a while ago I did flush the whole system through and refill it with all new ethylene glycol as I prefer what I know.

But I have a vague recollection of the two being mixed they will react and eat away at gaskets and seals, or am I being paranoid?

Any guesses what gasket or seal it is as I am not 100% with a diesel lump, used to be a V8 man

    Any help greatly appreciated.
