  1. My pictures here..... http://s160.photobucket.com/albums/t167/gl...mview=slideshow
  2. Interesting that their web site doesn't seem to have been up=dated for a week!
  3. Costructive feedback is always welcome. Everyone I have spoken to after the event said how much they enjoyed themselves. If by having a little less deep water everyone can enjoy themselves even more next then year even better, and thats my personal challenge. As for my personnal opinion - I HATE KIRTON MUD. Its the best grinding paste known to man and sets like concrete if not washed off immediately!!!!!
  4. As in any sport catching the delliberate cheat is not easy, they tend to do it when your not looking. I spent a lot of Sunday repairing rope and posts, replacing punches and reported all the tape infringments I saw, I would say that none that I saw were deliberate. I did repair rope that had beendriven over but have no proof that this had been deliberate. I also reported any infringements passed onto me by other competitors. I know that if we suspect any teams of cheating we try to watch them more closly, but with 40 vehicles and approx 30 Marshals its not an easy task. On a different note, my comment about teams making some of the sections look too easy was based on the level of driving I witnessed not the final punch count.
  5. Point taken about water. Don't blame Neil entirely for this one though as my-self and the Badger's did the initial recce of Kirton 3 weeks back, and most of the site was like a desert. Kirton has a lot of water and its a shame not to use it. We did try and find places to put punches that hadn't been used before, but without using lots of rope it wasn't easy to put out punches which would have the right balence of difficulty. We were trying to make it more difficult for a certain Mr Able while still giving everyone else something to go for, but it looks like he can walk on water. That said I take on board Mr Turners comments, and promise to rise to the challenge next year and to try to put out 40 punches without using the water, if possible. Finaly can I just say that a lot of the teams this weekend made the punches look so easy that we thought we'd gone soft on you. Glad that in the main you all enjoyed it and that you dry out for the next round.
  6. Forcast is rain up this way for most of the week so pack your wadders
  7. Video's now ready to view on you tube - Including how the rock got there.
  8. I spent a lot of time repairing damaged blue rope and did report at least one infringement, but the competitor concerned apealed and we upheld the appeal. I never saw any deliberate driving over rope but there was a lot of hear say going on - some one either started the rumour or saw the infringement and let it go. It was a big site and Marsahals were thinly spread and kept busy.
  9. Well looks like they finaly had the good grace to remove the Eurochallenge from their web site, the Clubman and novice event is still on there though, even though I believe the first two events had to be cancelled due to lack of entrants?
  10. Still been advertised on their web site! Surely they ought to let people know not to turn up.
  11. As this is supposed to be a bit of friendly fun around the camp fire I think the task/s need to be completable in less than 5 mins or folk will get bored and not join in. The twist off comp took a couple of mins per vehicle! Some of the ideas above are great but are getting a bit serious and involved and would take all day to get 40 vehicles put through their paces.
  12. Hows about a winch version of the Worlds Strongest man atlas stones event. Three objects, light weight(!), medium and heavey. Each set at a slightly longer distance behind a base line. Vehicle has to relocate between pulls and team have to work together to drag in the weights. Give the task a time limit, say 4 mins and award points on No. of weights, time and for split decissions distance.
  13. I thought it was the cider did that Simon?
  14. Unfortunately the people who can answer your question don't seem to want to tell anyone whats going on.
  15. This might help, http://korc.invisionzone.com/index.php?sho...amp;#entry16181
  16. I have driven up and down it several times in the last 5 years. I agree with Vambo, the big rocks haven't moved, just the small stuff has washed away/moved around. It would take a major event to move the big rocks! I have heard that their is a voluntary one way system on Stannage, but had contradicting reports as wether its east to west or west to east.
  17. IMHO the bid rocks with the scrapes on the top don't seem to have move since last time I was up there, That point in the track has always been the 'hard' bit and usualy requires some one to show you the way up it. Long wheel base vehicles usually have a harder time than short onea. Still looking for pictures?
  18. That picture is take at the only realy technical/difficult point on the track. Its the view and drop off that make for a excellent lane. Appart from the exposed pipe (and I'm checking old photo's 'cos I'm not convinced its been recently exposed) not a lot looks to have changed since I was last up there?
  19. When making tyres, the side wall height and tyre width have to be within 10% tolerence to qulifie for the size/aspect ratio rating on the side wall. Different makes of tyre - even though the size on the side wall is the same may have a different rolling circumference and therefor if fitted to the same axel cause the diff to work harder. Tyres from the samm manufacturer with a different tread pattern, but marked as being the same size may also give the same problems. Then you will have differing levels of grip from the two tyres. As a limp home carfully option you should be OK, but wouldn't recommend it long term.
  20. To be fair Derbyshire County Council have been better at most at trying to continue to provide access to all users. The Shatton Moor rout as I use it has been reasonably OK recently. The Shatton end access to the lane gets wet and muddy in poor weather, but the Brough end is hard bed rock and well drained. If they tro it what will all the Hang glider guys do to get up there, last time we went up in summer you could hardly get by the parked cars. On a sadder note, last time I was up there it was wet, but even so a couple of guys in 4x4's seemed to think it was OK to drive off track to play in some 'bomb' holes. They weren't interested when we tried to explain that what they were doing might be wrong As for Tenterhill - I've heard a lot of stories as to why the council are considering a tro on it - weather damage, 'vandalism by people using it, getting stuck and taking down walls etc. We contacted the rights of way officer as we plan to drive it soon and he confirmed it was being monitored, and promised to consider our offer of help with maintanance.
  21. Some people are happy to cover costs and maybe make a bit here to cover loses made 'there', whereas other people will sell their grandma if they thought money was to be made.
  22. To give more people a chance of standing on the podium, and I supose so people can compare their performance with competitors in similar spec vehicles. As for not entering 'cos theres not enough other vehicles in a particular class, someone has to be first. Hopefully a few people showing off their engineering skill(?) and imagination might encourage more to have a go. As has been shown, 'portal axeled, monster tyred, hydraulic steering, multi-winched ,spaceframed monsters don't always win overal; but we do like to see them taking part. Not to say that we dont mind watching the one winch, no-lockers etc doing well also.
  23. Surely the main competition is how many points you score compared with every one else who entered, as in your overal standing, and you position in the sub group is secondary? Me if I had the budget and time, I'd be entering just for the craic.
