  1. many thanks for that, after much swearing and groping i managed to find the connector, cabletied and hidden in the most in accessible place possible! But have managed to the the loom connected to it, so happy days! Chris
  2. Hi Guys, Trying to fit 12s aux electrics to my TD5 110 with the Genuine kit Have had the panel off under the cubby box, but just cant find the connector for the reverse light! What's the best way to locate it? Anyone got a piccy? The kit I've got breaks into the switch cable using the black plugs. I'm guessing someones tucked the wiring nicely out of the way so I cant find it! Chris
  3. give me a PM, could maybe take you about berko if you want as there are quite a few lanes. Some of them are rather tight though!
  4. Sounds like a lose connection, why not send it back to the dealers for a warentee fix?
  5. Do you have traction control fitted to your defender? mine makes a clicking noise when it kicks in...
  6. oil in the loom? might be worth checking the RED ECU plug to see if oil has reached it.
  7. thanks western, you're a star Have had a good look at the turbo, I get a ring of oil collecting at the bottom of the hose, the top of the turbo appears nice and dry. I'll get a new hose ordered and see if that cures the problem. And see if I can work out how to fit the new one!
  8. Trying to work out where my 300tdi is leaking oil from, ( think it would be easier to work out where it isn't coming from) Seems to be coming from the larger braided hose that comes from the turbo. Is it common for the hose to leak? or is it likely to be another component above the hose? If it is the hose, is it a big job to replace? If anyone has a part number for it too that'd be great. Thanks in advance Chris
  9. Don't think so chris, but am standing by to be corrected when I nip down to the landrover dealer tomorrow! Thanks for the part numbers western! Chris
  10. Evening all, Sorry to bother you all with what must be a basic question, have just bought myself a project 90 with a 300tdi engine and running gear (R380 Gearbox) Was having a look underneath as it seems to be dripping oil, looked at the gearbox and it looks like the drain plug is missing! Anyone know what thread size it is, and where is the best place to get a new one? Think it must've fallen out when I trailered the car home, as there is now a fair bit of oil surrounding the Gbox housing. Also looks like oil may be dripping from the bottom of the sump, Best option just to tighten the drain plug? Chris Shall post up some piccys of the new toy!
  11. all the TDCI defenders the MOD are using have a dixon bate adjustable tow bracket for the nato hook, looks like the best way to go.
  12. may use GT towing, seem to have a good range, only problem is they're not very easy to get to. Anyone know the kerbweight of a 90 HT and its length?
  13. evening all! Looks like i've bought a new toy from fleebay, a loverly looking blue 90 HT. My prefered method is to trailer her from Doncaster to hertfordshire. Does anyone know any firms that do car trailer hire in the Herts/Bucks area? Or anyone's got one that's likely to be free around the 14th July, could I borrow it? I'm around Portsmouth / Southampton on the 13th July, and dont mind driving one back down that way either. My trailer towing is reasonable! Did my B+E test a while back. Regards Chris
  14. hmm, I'd go for the XS, the aircon is a bonus, and I dont find a problem with lack of leg room! Tatty bodywork? you wont feel as bad when you take her out laning! And bolt on bits can always be sold on to reduce the hole in your pocket!
  15. I have seen a combined NATO and ball hitch before, - could be mounted on a dixon bate tow hitch so you can get the correct height.
  16. I don't think you can fit a middle seat to 07 defenders due to the Hi/Low lever, as Landrover no longer offer it as an option. I'm still yet to work out how on earth you can seat someone in a middle seat, unless they have no legs.
  17. yeah thats right, give the police something like that, and let our boys run around helmand province in unarmoured snatch landrovers!
  18. missed that one on the options list! sounds like a good aftermarket idea though, might have to check ebay for one
  19. hmmm, is there a seperate harness for the alarm? could plug into the bonnet switch. I'll take some photos of under my 05 TD5 tomorrow if you want jim
  20. I Have a plug that looks like that attatched to the clutch master cylinder, plugs into another grey plug and then disapears off into the loom!
  21. there's two on feebay at the moment I'd buy one if i had the cash!
  22. right guys, just spent a few hours with the defender, and can indeed confirm it works!
  23. I was shortly planning on handing over my hard earned cash to mr ashcroft for this upgrade too, anyone know if it has adverse effects on the antistall? I quite like using it to set off and crawl in traffic / laning
  24. I know, How about we invade a middle eastern country with vast oil fields and attempt to have a greater control in the market and prevent increasing prices? oh wait a minute.....
