  1. On a similar note, you cannot go wrong with an Ifor williams. I own a GD105 (10foot by 5foot load area) Superb multipurpous bit of kit. I have the mesh side extensions on mine too, and will eventually have the tarpulin cover for my planned road trip to furnish a house in menorca. Only problem i've had with it is the lock on the hitch has siezed, but no big drama really! Bought mine second hand of ebay, as has been said they hold their value well, so hopefully I wont loose much on it should i have to sell it. Just really need to get a proper hitch lock for mine! Not seen cheap insurance anywhere for trailers, i've been quoted up to £300, and when i'd need to spend £200 on extra locks it doesn't seem worth it.
  2. Evening Gents! Been thinking long and hard about what i want to do to improve my TD5 110 XS, love her to bits and wouldnt change her for anything else in the world! Seems alot of people change the transfer box for the higher ratioed disco box, is there anyone here who's had it done? how do they find it? Anyone got any idea how much Ashcofts charge for the swap? I find myself doing Hemel Hempstead to Southampton runs weekly, I wonder if a higher transfer box would be a bit more comfortable. Was going to go down the overdrive route but seeing GKN have stopped making them i'm not really very keen on that route. Also have a small engine remap planned as soon as i can afford it! Chris
  3. I live quite close to aylesbury, not home until the 14th of december though i'm afraid! not sure if it still helps?
  4. Sorry if this is the wrong forum! I'm always checking my tyre pressures, was topping up General Grabbers on my 110 XS, and the crappy electric infaltor i had decided to blow up rather spectacualy, with smoke billowing out every possible hole in it! Question is what should i replace it with? It was some crappy halfords thing. looking to spend about £45 and need something that can cope with large tyres i guess! Chris
  5. personally i think the TD5 is a superb engine, after 8 years of use its proved very reliable, minus the oil in the injector harness issue they seem quite bullet proof, just romours seem to keep people away from it! With chipping the ECU ect its capable of so much! just my 2p worth
  6. Gaining electrical qualifications is a bit of a double edged sword. A quick question, how much electrical experiance do you have? The few week wonder courses are frowned upon by most in the electrical trade, as they produce people who have the bit of paper, but no really electrical experiance, nor the common sense to be able to apply the regulations in the correct way. How longer time frame do you have? ideally you want to do your C+G 2330, or whatever its changed to now, and then get your 2381 then 2391 qualifications. I do alot of work in the electrical industry, and i picked up the C+G 2381 and 2391 qualifications in my spare time and do part time work. I'm NAPIT registered. The hardest thing i found is that i have no real practical qualifications to show my experiance. The only way i'm getting around it is because i'm undertaking a degree in Electrical Engineering tehy're cutting me a bit of slack. If you want to chat a bit more PM me! Chris
  7. you need to look into the london low emision zone, think it more or less applies to any defenders before the TD5 era. if they do not meet the low emision standards, its £100 a day or something stupid to drive inside the M25 area. one of the reasons i sold my 300tdi before everyone else realised about the London LEZ Chris
  8. I waxoyld my 110 using the DIY wax oyl kit, thought it actually worked alright! just did it on a giant tarp, got slightly covered in it, but found WD40 dissolves it!! and then washed with swarfega to remove the wd40. worked brilliantly..may well write to WD40 and tell them about the new use i found for it!!
  9. hmm, i thought about that, but i like things to be done properly think it'll be my last resort if there is no where i can tap into though
  10. Hello there! Have recently purchased a 2005 110 XS never really done much with landrovers, or indeed any car before! But i'm an electrician by trade so used to working with my hands and regard myself as quite competant. Trying to install a nokia bluetooth car kit in it..installing it under the cubby box. my problem is finding an ignition live for the unit. Presumably there must be one under the drivers seat, but what is the best one to use, and more importantly what sodding colour is it! Regards Chris
  11. hmm looks like i found another one... or just someone trying to get rid of a 110 for £6k! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2002-LAND-ROVER-DEFENDER-110-County-Station-Wagon_W0QQitemZ330151733316QQihZ014QQcategoryZ29748QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
