  1. Some from wales a few months ago
  2. I just bought one of these, makes it easier to find the door lock in the dark too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clarke-BBC-5-Baseball-Cap-With-Led-Light-/400306599912?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item5d3421f7e8
  3. There are a couple of bolts from the sump that go into the cover but you don't have to take the sump off, just the bolts that go into the cover then you can slide the cover away from it.
  4. West wales, we only had about 3" but it was the wind and drifts that was the problem.
  5. It was only 1/2 a mile from the village and 5 mins after we got there the owner turned up with a shovel, after a lot of shoveling and trying to winch it out it was still stuck then a 4x4 tractor turned up and pulled it out much to the relief of the owner.
  6. Took the V8 out for a drive up to the hills, got halfway up a very snowy road with the wind blowing a gale and found this
  7. I did mine in a day on my drive but iv'e done a few so know what to expect, plus i was a mechanic for 15 years so that helps Hardest part of the job is the front pulley and the front cover, sometimes the pulley just falls off other times it could take ages. Same for the front cover,if all the bolts come out easy the cover will be off in no time but they can be a right pain sometimes and the bolts have a tendency to seize into the cover and snap the heads off! I got a cam kit from Reel Steel which has everything you need but always check before you start the job to see if everythings there,it's worth getting a timing chain kit as well just in case thats knackered too (you have to take it off to do the camshaft anyway) I'd give yourself a couple of days to do it and strip it somewhere where your not limited to those 2 days in case things do go wrong.
  8. I thought the same and fitted a 2a box back in mine when i did the rebuild (had a s3 box in for years) a week later this happened The s3 box is back in now lol
  9. I've had the procomp +2" shocks on my swb 2a for about 4 years now and i'm well happy with them,so happy that i put a set on the disco. I don't find them stiff at all and it's now got disco rear shocks on the front with no problems. It's used for offroad and on road and if anything it has improved road handling as they are gas,a good all-round shock for the price in my opinion.
  10. If you drive it i hope you've made a list of all the petrol stations on your route............your gonna need them with a V8
  11. Have a look where the gear lever goes into the 3 selectors on the top of the box, they sometimes jump out and try to move two at a time so that might cause it,if you take the tunnel out you should be able to see them.
  12. My series 3 box has lasted 8 years behind a V8 lump and it gets some serious abuse offroad, got a 2a box in now so fingers crossed it'll last as long it's a lot of work to fit a defender box,you have to cut the series gearbox crossmember out and fit the bolt on one from the defender, you also need the tunnel and floor from the defender as the bell housing is bigger. Props need altering, the front will be longer and you might need to modify the cross member so it clears the prop and you'll end up with a 4" shorter rear prop so if you go offroad you might get uj problems.
  13. I did the same as you years ago as i had a scrap s3 in the drive and took it of that to put on my s2,trying to get a good series 2a bulkhead now is like trying to find a needle in a haystack but i got lucky and found a complete s2a with a rotten chassis and took the bulkhead of that to go on mine so its back to original now (the bulkhead is at least).
  14. My series had them on the rear discs but not on the fronts due to them being rusted,it stands outside on the drive a lot as its not my main vehicle and have noticed the rear discs are corroding faster than the fronts so iv'e now removed the rear shields as well (and all the mud and carp they were holding in)
