  1. Beggars is one of the worst, but much of that is due to the fact that you can see exactly where youre going, and where you may end up if you get it wrong!! If youre new lanes like this will cause a shrap intake of breath, but dont worry you will soon get used to them The views from the top are great though.
  2. You never know, theres so much linked to LR and Jaguar. Franchise dealers, parts shops, driver training, doesnt look good. Hint, if new buyer suggests it will be fitting one of their engines to a model, you know they will be selling the brand very soon! Look at BMW, now Ford.
  3. Thanks. After a bit of faffing about with the power supply I seem to have got it running properly. Ive set the fan at approx 95, but it will need a bit of roadrun to check its set a the right temp
  4. If no one knows what the temp is, does anyone use a Kenlowe with an adjustable setting? If so, what temp do you set it at?
  5. Pity youre so far away, Ive got one you can have
  6. Many thanks Jon, will be in touch.
  7. Ive fitted them to my s2, with a s3 gearbox and SD1 3.5 V8, Ive got to say its much more drivable with the torque in the right place (it appeared to overrev with little movement with series diffs) I used a s3 heavy duty clutch and diesel mounts, but thats as far as Ive needed to go at the moment.
  8. Ive fitted a Merlin fan thermostat, its fitted into the top pipe from the rad. This has a thermostat in it, thats settable from 70-120, but Im struggling to work out what temp it should be set at. The manual says the thermostat opens between 72-83, but thats just to allow water flow, not when the fan should come on/turn off. This is on a SD1 3.5 V8. I have found that shutting the engine down and restarting when the fan is ON blows fuses though So I guess what Im asking is.... Whats the working water temp for a 3.5 V8?
  9. I got mine from Paddocks, but most are the same price (this is the s3 type) Ive looked at recoring and its scary money.
  10. Jon, is this what youve done? Any chance of me coming over with tape measure and camera? Please?
  11. We were talking about post01 vehicles with traction control, superchargers, etc. We felt there should be new classes set up that would allow these vehicles, basically the same as the classes we have at the moment but if you use any part or vehicle thats post01 youre in that class. The hardest part may be racing against a supercharged sport, but then again 2l s1 leafer against 4.6 "s1" coiler isnt the most level playing field, but it sure makes you feel good when you beat them The reason AWDC fields look so full is that the run RTV and CCV on the same course at the same time, whilst it cuts costs it also gives a false picture about entry numbers. The AWDC series goes around the country, whilst ALRC are area based with just a few National events. AWDC allow 'zukis which are dirt cheap to buy, build and maintain-something that cant be said about LR's. As for relocation cones, etc where do they fit on my Series2?!
  12. Tonk, What did you do about the length of the defender steering column? Was it the right length (same as series) or did you have it cut down? Ive got all the parts now, just got to summon up the courage to start cutting lumps out of the chassis!!
  13. It was wet, windy but still good to watch!!! Pity there were so few traders, and no club shop I dont see the problem with the rules, all clubs in all sports have them. The ALRC even print a big book with the rules and regs in it, so theres no excuses for not passing scrutineering (I do understand that some clubs are more lenient than others, but this is the big one so they will be pedantic) Only downer was not being allowed to ride to the trials, kinda defeated the object of taking the bikes. Roll on next year at Eastnor
  14. But this is a modified class motor I would think. My 2a "only" has a 3.5 V8, but that puts it in the modified class as does the motor a mates building- an 86" TDi but both are still leafers
  15. ALRC rules are quirkey, they dont allow many engine changes to stay within the standard rules, but they do if your vehicle is a V890, you can change from the 3.5 upto the 4.6!! Picking up my new handbook at the Nationals as mine is a few years old.
  16. Its the slave, have disconnected the hydraulics and the clutch pedal drops no problem. Will have a look at the slave to see if it can be repaired, otherwise I'll pick up a new one at the ALRC this weekened.
  17. I think the strangest thing is that the clutch is disengaged but the pedal is up and hard (zero movement), if the pedal was down it would make more sense.
  18. Got a problem with my S2a, the clutch has stuck in the disengaged position. The engine is a V8, and the box S3, it had a heavy duty s3 clutch. All pipes, master and slave have been replaced with genuine parts. The clutch has been working fine, but went to use it yesterday and the pedal was solid (in the up position) and theres no drive. Ive taken the floor, etc out and removed the gearstick so I can look through the cover hole. The thrust bearing is right in the forward position, which would explain no drive, but it wont be forced back. Any ideas? I'll remove the slave tonight and see if that allows it to engage properly.
  19. No, but next year its at Eastnor
  20. Yes it appears that most of the posts have been pulled out (many of these were put in members of various forums and clubs) and huge logs that had been put accross the gaps pulled out of the way May have to do a search on youtube as Im sure there will be stuff on there.
  21. Took a drive along here yesterday and got to say I was NOT impressed. The bronze age banks are getting trashed by idiots who cant be bothered to stay on the byway or go to a Pay and Play site If anyone on here witnesses this abuse can they send any photos they manage to get, to me? Many thanks. We will soon loose this byway if this abuse continues.
  22. I downloaded my form via the SROC website and a link the host clubs site. Look forward to seeing you there, four days of relaxation
  23. The GLASS guidelines are for 4 vehicles in a group, this was reduced from 6. So any club with four or five is fitting in with the old guidelines and possibly the new ones too
  24. Im going with a couple of mates, weve been attending since the D&C event Jubilee year. On a slightly annoyed note, do the organising clubs want to make a loss? A friends son and a few of his mates wanted to book a pitch, but arent members of any club, they are interested in seeing what goes on, with a view to joining a club and getting a LR. As they arent club members they cant book a pitch, so its in my name with another club Im a member of (it gets them away from us!!!!) The ALRC needs to sort itself out
  25. Great day out, packed with all types of vehicles. Stunning weather too. It was so bad they closed the roads out of Aldershot!!!!!!
