I think it leaks out from the turbo. As I understand it its the boost pressure the turbo creates that holds the oil back on these as I dont think they have oil seals in.
I just wash mine out with petrol every now ond then; then stick it back on.

I worked on a rangi once that was doing the same thing. when you turned the key of it kept goining untill you flased the head lights then it stoped.
It turned out to be the alternator was bleeding just enough juce through the warning light into the ignition system to keep the solenoid open.
My cure for this at the time I thing was to put a grounding resistor of a couple of hundred Ohms across the solenoid to pull the voltage down when the key is off,

I have an Nreg 300Tdi that done 270K miles that used to do the same thing after a good thrash down the moterway and changing to a good quality Texaco 15 40 did the trick.
I find the secret to a good engine is dont skimp on the servicing do it often and work the engine hard, when warm of course,
