  1. Sorry if this sounds dum but what's a EDC 300Tdi.
  2. How are you intending to clean all for the carbon depossits out of the oil, the bits that turn it back and the reason we change it.
  3. I would check the fuses and then the flasher relay its self if the hazards arnt working either, its behind the fuse box carrier.
  4. I replaced the broken odd pair of lamps in my N reg D90 with standard britpart replacments and fitted them blue tip phillips bulbs. Cheep and happy.
  5. Yes that wire should be connected to that oil pressure switch.
  6. My farther had the same sort of thing happen to him on his work 300Tdi. His was parked up when the alarm sudenly went off, he went out tunred it off and then tried to start it. Nothing. That turnd out to be suden failer of the battery, it just went short inside. Changed the battery all was fine, its moden cheep batteries that was the problem. Hope that helps Mark
  7. I would stick with the old type myself. I have an Nreg 90 and I have changed mine and my dads on his Rreg 90 several times as they constantly crack due to flexing around the rim next to the fixing bolts for that nast pressed steel master cylinder thay now use. Thats why alot of landrovers I think 300Tdi onwards have carp and heavy breaks. Rant over.
  8. when you say new type you mean say 300Tdi and old type as in 2.5D.
  9. Do yo mean closed circuit when you say open circuit. when you pull the fuse out the circuit will be open. It dose sound like you do have exsesive leakage through your alternator which could be the diode pack inside, mine did the same before belowing out smoke when running.
  10. Sounds ok to me, others may disagree. A 12v battery isn't 12v its 13.2 (2.2v a cell) and most alternators charge to 13.8 I think. The alternator on my dads MGB dose carge at 14.3 so probubly ok.
  11. How much did your new uk Lambdas cost and are they rangi or are they from somthing els, Im pretty sure you can get the same type from another vehical for less money but not sure.
  12. Threesheds you have hit my nail on the head, I am starting off with just the megajolt because of the water resistance of the Edis coil sparks as I said before and as you have said "how much better the engine runs". I know of a duel fuel rangi that used to be a sod on Gas and not much better on petrol when cold, now its got Edis on it it will start on Gas when cold and pers like a kitten.
  13. The extra water resistance is the only reason I have gone with Edis and MegJolt to get rid of the dizzy.
  14. Have alook under or anound the Air flow meter at the loom and there should be two spade connectors with a black component between them this is the ECU pickup resistor from the ignition if its not connected it wont start. I had the same symptums on a 3.5 dico and it was that reseistor. mark
  15. Hi Geoff, Ye was me that had the topend off you I had the loom, ECU and air meter off Rob but as we all know they dont work on the old flap system and as I didnt have a flap meter or ECU it made sence to change to Hot Wire. I also had the gearbox out of that manual RR you had the LT230 out of to repace your Borgwarner which I think you didnt do in the end. I have recently got a new gearbox from a Breg Rangy which has the correct gear lever layout to go strate in a 90. Nice to hear from you and shame to here yours has gone to new places. Am planning on venturing over clee Hill once again to you when my new truck is finished as I think I said a few years ago.
  16. Thats a fair point but for cost reasons Im guna stick for now, would just be nice to finaly take the engine for a spin as I've had it for over two years and only had it running for about 10seconds when it was converted to hot wire.
  17. Hi all, I have finally after two years or so started to build my 90 V8i for playing and general road posing. The engine that I am using was originally a flap type injection 3.5lt and I have changed it to a hot wire 14CUX type, with the help of parts from Geoff Beaumont along with a gearbox ( has he sold his green rangy ) I intend to keep the Lucas injection but am fitting MegaJolt ignition, inspiration from Geoff aging. This may go against the grain of the MegaSquirt people out there but is the Lucas system really that bad. Found a good write up about the system on an American site, have a look it even mensions MegaSquirt http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/Rover-14CUX-EFI.htm Mark
  18. I've heard on the old grape vine that these engines are abit prown to head problems.
  19. I only ever got around to doing the driver and pasenger door on my truck but I have got the kit for doing the rear door from a comany off the web that also do after market leci windows. Its abit of a job as you have to drill the rear lock open and weld a braket on the little black leaver on the inside. My thort (one day) would be to use a TD5 rear door as the trim panel is designed for it. Mark
  20. I did the same to my defender about two years ago. Remote alarm with central locking the best thing I ever did. Mine turned out to be more complicated, the remote part was the alarm, then into an interface box then into the central locking module. Mark
  21. Are you glow plugs working. them old TDs are still indirect injection and are a bugger to start without heat. Just a thort. Mark
  22. I changed mine in my D90 at the end of last year after some non landrover lover smashed one of them and fitted standard replacment ones from dare I say it Britpart and fitted them with phillips blue tip bulbs and there prity good as a cheap fix. Mark
