  1. Dose anyone know what sort of suck these 300Tdi pumps have, can it weaken over milage (275K) or do they just work or they don't.
  2. Whats wrong with the servo fitted to the later series trucks. that and its pedal box should drop strate in.
  3. My R380 box has got a nasty change from 1st to 2nd all others are ok ish, might be the 270,000 miles on it but not noisy or clonky in any way. Must av a good one as I was once told that all LT77 and R380s need rebuilding every 100,000 as the output shaft an gear wares.
  4. I agree with Jim it sounds like the spider (imobilizer pack) it contains two relays one for the fuel solinoid and one for the starter. They are easy to fined on a defender but not going to say where for obvious reasons and easy to repair as most of the time its a dry solder joint. My dads Rreg 300Tdi had the same problem but the other way around it would crank and crank but wouldn't start or it would cut out down the M-way. Openend it solderd it put it back together and never had a problem cince. Mark
  5. Mine had been put in the square hole under the dash that usally has a blank plug init. Theres a hole drilled in the one in westerns phot.
  6. When my dads first Defender 90 was sort of rebuilt we used a 300Tdi seat box and tunnel and it fitted fine. Oh it was a C reg 2.5D with LT77, was brown on the inside, green on the outside with blue rear window panels and white roof and back door. We still dont know why it was chrisend Patch. Mark
  7. Had a quick look, have Sky+ed it to watch later but am hoping it's just aimed at the bikers that rip about all over the place.
  8. Dose anything need to be done with the brake system its self as the balance vales are different for drums and discs.
  9. Was the 2A originally a petrol or a diesel. The reason I ask is that the ignition key on the old diesels removes the supply to everything apart from cranking when you're in the crank position. So when you fit a modern engine with an electric fuel shut off, all looks to be working well but when you go to crank it shuts the fuel off and it dosen't start. Just a thought I've been there. Mark
  10. My old 2.25 diesel S3 had an overdrive and would easaly do 70mph which is supprsing as it burnt oil at a gallon a week, the timing chain dround the sound of the engine and there was something wrong if you ever saw the oil pressure light go out. But the engine never faild to start and would always get me home even when someone put 3 bars of soap in my tank.
  11. My 300Tdi also dives to the left under heavy braking. On 300Tdis one front brake gose though the balance valve for the rear brakes and the other gose strate to the caliper, could this make a differance. I also suffer from carp back brakes, but that could be calipers after 270K.
  12. Mine is plumbed into the inlet mainifold. The is a screw in bung at the back of my 300Tdi manifold so had a fitting made.
  13. When I was about 8 or 9 we used to have a 2door rangi, the engine was abit sad so oneday Dad decided to change it. He aquired an injection engin out of a car which was soon in the rangi, the only problem was that for some resson the bonet whould sit on the plenum chamber when you closed it. So, after lots of swaring ( bad for an 8 year old to hear ) the injection was removed and the carbs off the old engine were fitted and later a modified manifold and a twin choke webber. The thing would go and sound like nothing on this planet ( 8 year old remember ) but would only ever do 7MPG. Stick with the injection.
  14. The system on my 3.5V8i came from a late 3.5 disco why it was 3.5 and not 3.9 I dont know. the seep transducer on mine is in the speedo cable so the head is a normal mechanical one not electronic. The transducer on mine tells the ECU that the vehical is moving and so takes it off the idel map and onto one of the road maps, the old system is not so dum isit. The engines will run ok with out that input but it just stays and runs on the idel map.
  15. The green wire gose to an ignition live and the yellow wire gose to the ECU pin6 but these wire should already be in if your using Lucas 14CUX (Hotwire) injection. It dosen't mater which way around you connect the transducer as far as I know, it just gives 6 pulses per rev of the speedo cable. Hope this helps Mark
  16. I fitted the boots when I fitted a new full set of procomps to my 90 now 3ish years on the shafts have rusted there all nackard and its like driving a beached whale. Time fir a change one thinks.
  17. Im pritty sure you could get some SUs with shutoff solenoid/valves in the side of them at one point that would be an idea on a carbed V8, no need to wait for the float chambers to empty.
  18. Also can I assume that the oil needs to be drained out first.
  19. Yep thats the one. Thanks
  20. This wasn't long ago asked on here but I can't find it. Someone had posted how to charge the front output bearing on an LT230. Please help am going mad. Mark
  21. Hi steve send me a list of exactly what you wont, lenghts and sizes of cable and the size of the hole in the luge and will price it for you if you like. Mark
  22. Could it be that the fuel filter and pipe systems are different between the two engines and you have got air getting in. just a thort.
  23. Sounds like something elles to go wrong to me.
