  1. I'll be passing by soon with a LHD 110 V8 1985 and you can take a look, but this one has the LT95, and would serve no real purpose for your 'market' of R380 and LT77. From memory the floor panels are the same RHD and LHD, tunnels are the same, etc. It is the handbrake which is situated on 'the other side' as are the pedals (Obviously...) Good luck on cutting, or alternatively, not cutting and giving the client some sweat for their money...
  2. I guess you changed the headlights for RHD ones, right? Otherwise, Defenders are the same 'continental' and inter-continental' apart from the LHD - RHD steering components and dash fittings...
  3. Intern at the Props department not doing his homework? Limited resources after the war? Early sponsoring by the Rover Company...
  4. the 110 used two different facia, different from the post 2007 facia. One which blanked off the vents and had the airco coming out of the dash panel, and one which was located below the dash. I believe the dash panel one was for the 'one ten' 110's, while the 'Defender' range had the airco below. Condensor would be located in the passenger footwell in the 'Defender' range, no clue on where it would be in the 'One Ten' range though. As for the 'heater' box, I believe that the piping would have to be placed in series, to blow hot, but dry air... Good luck and let us know how you get on. I am seeing if this conversion is feasible for my 110 as well...
  5. Get a Stebel Nautical horn. Works fine on my BMW 1200GSA, and should give you at least 134dB of noise... 'cheap' and people definitely hear you coming...
  6. Get the dumb iron with VIN off a similar aged 88 from the UK, and make sure you have the papers, plates, etc... I might be able to help you out with this later this year... Contact me through PB...
  7. I have G90s, and I can say that since I have them, I have drifted around corners better than any rearwheel driven vehicle, even on dry surfaces... Roundabouts are especially 'interesting', as are sandy roads... I am looking for replacements
  8. Guess that would be a nice job for Mr Ashcroft then... Do not know whether he would want to tackle that project by himself...
  9. Friend of mine has a 90 V8 and a bit of a bother in 5th gear. The gear seems to be much noisier than the other gears. As I am not near the vehicle, and I cannot hear the noise, I wonder if the grown-ups on the forum can help me out. Is this terminal? Or is it a case of gearbox transplant. Could the fix be done at home? Thanks.
  10. The brown fill-in panel is an airco set up. Basically the set up which was installed on vehicles up until 1990 I believe...
  11. Is this easy to do whilst 'on the road'? Say I get the seal, which tools do I need to bring to fit?
  12. BogMonster is partially right, mostly concerning the bolting to the chassis part. There are spreader plates for the seatbelts to mount to. As for the seats. the backs are fixed to the tub rail, the edge of the tub as well...
  13. Just bought a 1983 110 fitted with a Disco 200Tdi. I noticed that on the first injector oil is blowing. More at 'high' speeds and for a certain distance, less when driving like grandma. Any clues? Head gasket has supposedly been fitted recently.
  14. Little crack, tension on the frame, and BANG, there goes your screen. The old screens would disintegrate. Newer ones 'just' crack...
  15. I decided, or better yet, my bank manager did that for me, NOT to buy the vehicle. I also did not see the need for a WOLF rebuild, so it would really become that 'WOLF in sheep's clothes'... I am going down the galvanised chassis route for my current 110... Thanks for the input. Greatly appreciated
  16. Problem is that I am in Belgium at the moment, and Defenders are priced at almost twice the value as a similar vehicle in the UK. I bought a 200tdi CSW last year for 4000 pounds and still need to 'do' the rear cross member and change the rear axle. (not to mention the RHD - LHD issue, which is fine with me, but the missus is quite irritated by it.) So, basically, I have a CSW, and could use this 'rolling chassis' to swap from RHD to LHD. Then I can also sell the parts left over from the swap (200tdi, gearbox, axles, etc...) Still do not know what to do...
  17. Posted in Military forum... Wolf in Sheep's clothes Have been offered a rolled Wolf, and might consider rebuilding into a 'normal' 110 CSW. Priced 'as is' for about £3500. What do you think? I have until tomorrow afternoon to decide
  18. Just found this vehicle, for about £3500... The chassis seems to be untouched, the axles as well, 'just' would need a body rebuild. I will not be out for a complete and original rebuild, and might consider a rebuilding as a WOLF in sheep's clothes. Engine seems to be a recon, but did 70000kms on the counter. Is the asking price a fair one?
  19. Cut with a Dremel... (Small disc grinder) But make sure that although you are cutting Aluminium the sparks or hot cuttings do not reach the spilled fuel. This safety goes for drilling as well...
  20. If it would, don't you think the engineers at LR would have fitted them before leaving the factory?
  21. I have tried the same using DIY tar based roofing materials. Be aware of the fact that some of these products do not stand heat that well, and as such should NOT be placed on vertical or inverted surfaces. When the heat strikes the roof, it becomes really hot, which will dissolve the roofing material. I had to remove them (Most came off by placing the vehicle in the burning sun), and then treated the roof with Rubson Silicone bonding, applied with a block brush. This has a permanent adhesive power, does not melt under the sun, and also diminished the build up of condensation. As an alternative, it is possible to apply this stuff, and then cover with a fabric like Neoprene. Then you have sound proofing an alternative headliner.
  22. Did the serach, but could not find it. I am looking for the manufacturer of the full softtops for the 5 door 110's Anyone has a link for me?
  23. Zuk is 5 hole, but I have not seen Zuks with fat 255s like these... I'll probably buy 'new' 15 inch rims and swap the tires over. Might make things easier...
  24. They are steels, but the 5 holes around the center hole are placed further apart than the Defender could accept. Pic for your pleasure
