On page 251 of the old defender 110 parts catalogue, the exploded diagram shows a water jacket blanking plug (number 4) which I need 2 of. However the list doesn't specify what it is and therefore what part number it is. HELP RALPH!
I recently bought a second hand speedo from a defender td5. Just received it through the post today and its reading between 10 and 15mph out of the dash! Can they do this when there not wired up or should I be demanding a refund?
McNamara are still very much on the go. However i contacted Jeff at McNamara as a mate of mine has had dealings with him before, and apparently although they designed and built the 'pro-locker' they have sold the rights to TJM of Brisbane.
So to answer: yes McNamara diff lockers are still available to buy through TJM
The reason i ask is that ive fitted td5 wheel boxes which of course are upside down. I would imagine that this will affect the position of the motor. Im looking to fit the early type dash that i already have.
Is it a worthwhile upgrade fitting a td5 heater as opposed to the older style? Reason i ask is i notice the td5 matrix has pipes that come straight out rather than having a 90 degree bend in them, or is there a negligable difference between them?
Well i searched for heater rebuild and heater refurbishment and found nada...
Really? Is that all that normally goes wrong? How about the blower motor or matrix?
Whilst waiting on bits that will allow me to fit my wiper motor and mechanism i thought id turn my attention to the heater. To be honest it doesnt look too pretty although i havent taken it apart yet. Im not fancying the idea of fitting it without knowing its a good un.
Is there any good info about how to refurb them?
I was going to fit these http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/M6_Rubber_Rivnuts_10pcs_RUBNUT6 but reading about them it says that you just push them into pre-drilled hole and then tighten up fixings. Im not sure these would be strong enough to hold wiper motor bracket in place. Thoughts??
Ok so considering i will be fitting early style dash ive decided to cut that plate off and fit the motor where the pre-td5 motor would go by using rubber coated rivnuts. However ive never fitted a rivnut in my life and would like to know how i fit them?
Yeah well after looking at the price of all the parts (£65 delivered from britcar uk!!!!) i think i will have a go at cutting down the original tube down.
Mav im not sure how the motor could drive the opposite way? Wouldnt the wipers initially go the wrong way?
When offering up my wiper motor to the td5 bulkhead i noticed there is a mounting plate on the inside of the bulkhead
that the earlier bulkheads dont have.
Anyway, to mount my motor to this 'plate' do i use the same hardware ie
Wiper Motor Clamp – BHA4790L
Wiper Motor Pad – 150844
Nut Plate – MTC2607
Thats the thing though Ralph, when i took the original gear out of the wiper motor, there were no washers/shims whatsoever. My suspicion here is someone before me has had the motor apart and hasnt put them back. I now need to know where my new washers/shims need to go?
