  1. I'll get it looked at properly at the weekend, think it's likely to be the cv tbh. Hasn't been used off road much afaik, po had a challege truck for that. All parked up until then just in case. Cheers Folks.
  2. My newly aquired 110 csw has just developed an alarming (heavy)clunking noise from up front somewhere, at least thats where it sounds like its coming from Not had it a full week yet. Very evident on acceleration and engine braking, thought there was a faint noise on slowly freewheeling the other day - but put it down to tyres, and most definatley on full right lock, clunk, clunk, clunk. Nothing obvious from a look underneath - wheels aren't rubbing etc. No major oil leaks, chrome nice and shiney and moist with oil on the swivels. Only thing is a bit of play in the prop shaft about 10th / 8th of a turn slack between front diff and transfer box. I'm suspecting the cv, but could it be the diff or something else more sinister. What tests can I do to prove or disprove this other than jacking up that wheel and spining it. How big a job is it, what will i need, or is it easier to buy another axle? The vehicle had sat for a while and i've done about 350 miles. Oils etc were all changed about a year ago by po. Thanks in advance Steve
  3. IS it the same as a disco 1 - lots of those on ebay but no defender. Mines not here and want to replace it? Cheers.
  4. Mine did that a year or so back - most of the single phase 3hp motors have starting circuit / twin windings to get it spining up with a sort of centrifugal switch to change over to the main windings - my start winding was goosed - just blew fuses / trip every time it tried to start. Investigated a rewind - but cheaper in the ned to buy a new motor of ebay or from machine mart if in a hurry. Get somebody with a megger to test the resitance to ground through both sets of windings. HTH Steve
  5. For a 110 csw with 2" lift. Will get the 255 85 16's I'm going to put these on Wolf rims from paddock's for use 50% on and 50% off the road. It's not an everyday 'car' but will be used to travel 130 odd miles to and from inlaws place every other weekend or so, where it will do most of the mud plugging in wet bog/peat type soil other than club outings, and the occasional short commute to and from work. Its intended that landrover will be a working vehicle on the inlaws farmland. Do I go for BFG A/T or M/T? Any disadvantaes other than less offroad grip with the a/t's? Cheers.
  6. Cheers, I look forward to some deep meaningful debates
  7. Anybody got any photos of a superwinch install on a 110, looking for advice on wiring routes etc, how to best do the cab mounted switching and so on. All help gratefully recieved. Cheers Steve
