  1. They're common enough - plenty on ebay for little money, some people seem to think they're woth alot - they come with a seat belt as well - for peace of mind, search for 'dickie' seat... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Landrover-Discovery-Dicky-seats-Beige-200-300Tdi-V8-6-7th-inward-facing-boot-/140753134078?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20c58a61fe I've a spare one here if you want it for the cost of sending it via royal mail or something if you don't find one closer. Steve
  2. Thanks folks for the resonses - had done a search, but didn't find the threads below, knew I'd seen them here somewhere before... Turned out to be off a 2.5 na truck so a bit different from what I wanted. Cheers.
  3. What's peoples opinion on the K&N replacement filter cartridge for a 200tdi canister style air filter? Do they work, are they a lifetime thing as claimed? I'm going down the route of putting the older style can filter housing in to get the safari snorkel past the abs gubbins on my 300tdi disco, and have turned a K&N unit up close by. Never used one myself - just looking for an opinion. Steve.
  4. Just hire an ifor williams beaver tail or a car tarnsporter trailer and pull them home. Normally £20 odd quid for an evening if you ask nicely. Presuming you can tow a trailer over 3 ton legaly
  5. Make sure the vehicle is well supported whe working underneath - borrow some proper axle stands if you haven't got any, Everything is heavy. Everything else above is very relevant! Steve
  6. I've one of these on the mantle piece at home, since the wood burner was installed a year or two back, no fuss, no nonsense, compact, keep meaning to buy another one for the log cabin and to take camping... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/honeywell-carbon-monoxide-co-detector-H450EN-new-/280871743621?pt=UK_Safety_Alarms&hash=item416542b085
  7. Point and shoot Mike - just need a steady hand -I bought mine used off a local LR forum member - excellent bit of kit, think mig welder - only it cuts whatever shape you like. Yes did have the book / booklet you refer too, but haven't seen it in at least 5 years lol... Sorry
  8. Can't remeber what your chassis section was - but I've a 'multi-purpose' trailer that doubles as a kayak trailer, carries 8 kayaks, doubleladder racks each end and is a std 7' x 4' box configuration below, has a 'extended' A frame to allow me to carry a 14' canadian canoe on top. It bounces something terrible - with the bending / flexing about the 'A' frame, 6mm x 50mm angle, either loaded or empty. So shortening it won't do any harm! I had a constructive afternoon too - spent it rebuilding the local scout troops canoe trailer, I actually built it when I was in my early 20's whilst I worked at the local scout campsite, so it,s lasted 20 odd years, with a few major refits in between! I've a plasma cutter now so saves a bit on the cutting discs. Post some more photos! Steve
  9. Excellent job Jason - I really need another 110 CSW - the Disco isn't big enough for all that camping stuff, time to start saving again lol....
  10. That retaining pin is part of the rear body crossmember! If you start you may find alot of rust in it and regret cutting acces holes, It's a common rust trap... The proper way to fix it would be either replace the entire cross member if it's badly coroded (expensive unless you can weld), or make up a patch with said pin on it and weld / fasten however you choose. Do a search for 'rear cross member' and you'll turn up some relevant posts. Steve
  11. It's a common rot place! You need to take the dickie seats out to get the interior panel off - real pain in the ar$e, with 5-6 torx screws / bolts holding each side in. Steve Oops - you've replied whilst I was typing this...
  12. Some billiant Ideas Mike - would take me a lifetime to build something like that, but it could be a long term project - I like these alot. Have you seen them in the flesh? Steve
  13. Is this a set? Sorry not well up on my compomotive alloys - it doesn't really say on the ebay posting, but they are similar from memory? Hope this helps. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-90-110-Discovery-Range-Series-1-2-2a-3-Alloy-Wheels-Compomotive-/200750567578?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item2ebdaa909a Steve
  14. I've lost count of how many jeans etc and a new gortex jacket that have been victim t this - put me down for one x-trouser please!
  15. As the topic says - anybody gotone fitted, I've done a very good deal on a used QT services one off a guy locally, and wanted to see a few photos of them fitted to a disco 1. http://www.qtservices.co.uk/parts/discovery-series-i/black-discovery-pod-l1040b_black-discovery-light-pod-l104.html What are they like to live with? Is the forward view obscured much, do they produce a good light - or just rattle and bounce about like poorly fitted spots? Cheers Steve
  16. Excellent - good job, just realised that's the diagram for the front fogs lol....
  17. Ohm's law will be your friend on this one Jason.... For example http://www.wikihow.com/Analyze-Resistive-Circuits-Using-Ohm%27s-Law As the guys have said there's normally a 'big' current draw to get the thing going, I've installed a few, from memory the 12v ones had a 32 amp fuse! I had a 24v one that we used at the log cabin before fitting the rayburn stove, but just ran it off 2 batteries, great little units, had a 12v in the back of my 'old' 110 under the middle row of seats. Steve
  18. I had a commercially made set for the VW Camper (when I had it), excellent idea, i was intending to buy a set of 'Silcer screens' off ebay for an older transit or something and modify them for the current truck - where'd you get the material, edging etc? You've too much free time / overactive mind (bit like myself - only you get projects finished, maybe when I finish welding I could to lol...) Steve
  19. Switch just pulls straight out - probably the little mini bulb blown. Here'a wiring diagram...
  20. Do a good search on here for the edc threads - there's some info of the do's and dont's for the power boost - uprated intercoolers, electronic add on's - think it's allisport that do it, but could be j fearns or allard that do one to accompany their intercooler.
  21. Sorry mods - I couldnt modify my original topic - please move / modify as you see fit. Folks I've got the back end of the relay sorted from Surery over to the forest of dean and onwards to the emerald isle, but need to get it a little nearer to Tongham for Ed to take it the rest of the way. See the earlier thread... http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=75845 Any assistance greatfully recieved - I'm more than happy to pay towards time and fuel. Many thanks, Steve
  22. Can't get at the actual spring height - it's wedged into the garage at the moment - back end stripped out for the boot floor From the floor to the bottom edge of the front wing is 770mm on 245 70 16 rubber and std springs Steve
  23. That was part of the original plan - but they have a habit of all the bolts siezing dure to a sort of galvanic corrosion between the stainless and ali parts - so the heads all break off the stainless bolts. The newer vesrsions now use a special sort of grease / sealant to help avoid this - this ones quite old. Steve
