  1. Thanks Western - font of all LR parts knowledge as usual!
  2. Sorry to drag this up again - was out in the filds down on the farm yesterday when I noticed the red alt light come on - checked and the fan belt is gone - missing without trace lol. I've an early ish '87 90 - but not an ex miliatry one. There's a couple listed on the paddocks site including the one above etc7939 & 563132, I'm more used to working with the length / profile etc of the belt - so will aquire one that way. So just checking that they are all the same for the different variants? Cheer Folks. Steve
  3. Post a link please intersted in this for my 300tdi. Cheers Steve
  4. Just done this job on my recently aquired project after selling the 110 csw - I got a few real bargains off ebay £10 for inner and outer sills, worth looking if your not in a hurry, there's a few abandoned projects, Used SPI panels on one side (not sure if they are actually still in buisness - much heavier than the equivalent bearmach one I got for the other side. It's time cosumimg as Les has said you really need the interior stripped to get access and aviod setting fire to it. Not really difficult - takes longer to get the old sils out carefully unpicking spot welds and getting siezed body mount bolts out, than to weld new ones in - buy a good spot weld drill! Steve
  5. Looks like a good job - I'ver to do mine prior to the mot too - bought a pair from yrm with the big 'wings'. Debating wether to try and cut out the rust and plate before welding the new mount in. I've the boot floor & sides out at the minute - but acces is still limited. Steve
  6. Bolt pattern will be the same- tyre size may mean reduced rolling radius, just cjeck that they will fit over the drive flange on the eraly ninety - don't think they will!
  7. My neighbours late 300 series v8 needed a new regulator on the d/s as the old one had fell apart, he got a new one and installed but has a problem getting the window to fuction correctly again. Can anybody suggest the corect install procedure? Is there a particular place where the 'quadrant' needs to be etc. We're assuming the control limit switches are in the motor or does it rely upon current or something through the ecu to stop etc? When he has it installed it goes down fine, but stalls halfway back up again. Window will push up manually so aparently not jamming in the guides. regulator will cycle all the way when removed from the door and window assy. Any ideas gratefully recieved. Many Thanks, Steve
  8. I had the same problems with them on my 110 csw - twice, I did wreck one hitting a bit of bog oak whilst crossing a field fully laden, but the replacements lasted only months, I ended up with bearmach +5" shocks off the retailer under warranty, never had a problem in 3 odd years. Guess the shock dropper would do the same thing. There's a web page with all the specs listed... http://rovers.red90.ca/shockinfo.html Hope this helps... Steve
  9. Cheers Paul I'll try the seat belt bolts.
  10. I've tried most of the metric stuff I have about 10mm is very close but not right - I'm guessing it must be an obscure unf / unc carry over from the classic range rover parts bin? Anybody able to shed any light on it and I'll order a few bolts or eyes. Cheers Steve
  11. Nice little alu box Will - will look good when sorted. I've a rotten bodied widtrack that I'd like to do something similar to one day. I just use it on the farm now for gathering wood and stuff. Where abouts are you - I'll pop in for a look some day when I'm on my travels? Steve
  12. As the title says - anybody know what the difference is please - I presume it must be the little lip for the door seal to fasten onto and possibly the seat belt mounting. The wheelbase is the same soe the length etc shouls be the same. Cheers Steve
  13. I've taken a set off an xs I was breaking recently - they were factory installed, and seemed to have been stuck on with some sort of narrow foam double sided tape tbh. 3M make some good stuff called VHB but it's expensive, I'm sure you could get something else cheaper - looks a bit like the sticky pads for number plates. Steve
  14. Excellent thanks, should have a 1/2" bsp thread here somewhere - may even have already tried it over the weekend, but didn't think it was right - Cheers Steve
  15. Land Rover 300 TDi Radiator / Thermostat Housing Bleed Plug I need to fit a new replacement bleed plug that fits the thermostat housing The old one has disintegrated leaving carp in the threads - anybody know off hand what the thread size ids so I can get a tap and clean it out - thought it was bsp - but too fine? I think the Land Rover part # is ERR4686B if that helps identify the correct thing I'm referring to! Anybody any reason not to get a pair of the brass ones rather than the carp plasttic versions that I keep ringing the heads off when they get old? Cheers Steve
  16. Had mine mounted in the same way for my defender 110 csw - now changing to a disco and will do it the same way like that ^^^ Seemed to be more stable between the axles rather than out over the rear overhang. Nice roof rack setup btw - who makes that one toyroverlander - similar in many ways to my old frontrunner?
  17. Anybody done this? Would like to fit to the drivers and passengers font seats as per RR classic / ES models etc Will the seat frames have the bolt holes / fixings under the covers? Cheers Steve
  18. Well documented lads, I'll follow the thread with interest, just about to start my own 110 comercial csw build with a 1992 V8 110 csw ex ruc mountain rescue vehicle. Bought it pre stripped of a friend as an unfinsihed project, so basically a rolling chassis at the minute. Literally just trailered it home yesterday. Need to find a donar disco now for the drive train and engine. Was considering the galv route, and have made up my mind with the photos and detail show here! I have dealt with Hobsons before, having bought one of the row spec plaastic tanks etc for my current 110 csw, but never fitted. I'll get some photos upsoon. The row spec loom seems to be the way forward. Well done. Steve
  19. Get one off a 300tdi disco - it has the same plug and just splice into your existing loom. Assuming it's just the fuel sender your talking about with the 4 pronged plug affair in place of the td5 in tank pump assy? Steve
  20. I paid £450 last month for a similar aged and milaged hard top then swapped the roof for a pickup. It had five good tyres etc and needs an odd patch on outriggers etc - otherwise good. Needs mot and new paint! Lives down at the farm now, just used for hauling stuff about the fields etc. Good luck.
  21. Sorry folks I've searched and can't find a definate answer to this one! I*'ve bought an early 90 to play with and keep the 110 in a bit better cosmetic condition, it doesn't have power steering fitted. I understand 200TDi disco stuff will fit, pump, tank, hoses, box etc, would somebody be kind enough to confirm or do I need original 2.5 nas / td parts from a defender? Thanks, Steve
  22. 105k miles 300tdi 110, has always been a bit of a noise in 5th gear under load, but now I have a horrible grinding / rattling noise when in neutral, with an occasional low pitched whirr. Definatly sounds like a bearing starting to collapse - but where? It stops and is quiet when the clutch pedal is pressed - takes a few seconds.... Can't hear anything abnormal during normal driving - perhaps a little wine during overrun, maybe not. Is it more likely to be a thrust bearing in the clutch assembly or perhaps a lay shaft in the gearbox. Noise doesn't bother me too much - just concerened about the reliability / causing more damage., or is it a case of let it run its course. Gearbox oil was changed about 2.5K miles ago, level is still good and no obvious drastic leaks. Cheers. Steve
  23. Thanks folks I'll just hire a trailer when I need it then. Steve
  24. What's the prefered option - do I need to start saving for a trailer capable of handling the weight of a 90 or can aa a frame be used? I won't be towing very often, couple or three times a year to and from my land, but it's 3 hrs drive away, and will tow it behind my 110. It isn't mot'd and or taxed so technically not raod legal either. Thanks, Steve
  25. Thanks for the reply's folks - I'll get a few pennys gathered towards the end of july and purchase one of the prerfered options then Steve
