ot sure if landrover registerd it but before i spoke to dunsfold that was the only other thing to back up the story of it being a gen vehicle. i now know for sure that the story and vehicle was genuine and apparantly if you write to a address in the back of LRO you can pay £25 and get a "build sheet" for a vehicle. is this correct?
Yes I did it once for a light weight I had.

A good garage should be able to do it in 3 hours. I did my 110 not to long ago.

All you need to do is remove one bolt from the one side on standard arms and you get a lot more travel. It aslo makes it easer to change springs.

Is that not Straight Forward Supplies?
Peter

Paul Humphries (I think, at Eastnor 06)
Yes you were on the Shires stand next to the CRAG one.

Join shire land rover club then you will know lots of people on here.
Not joined them, but have met lots of them at the show.

Again, we had big hassle getting a club stand at Eastnor and then turned up to find empty pitches around the place!
Same here, I could not get one for CRAG.

Hi Paul
Posted reply on DL for you but wanted to add that if you fancy a trip to Gloucestershire to look at the Nissan 4 or 6 cyl or the Iveco 2.8 then let me know.
Will do. I like the Iveco as I have one in my van. But I am edgeine towards either a 3.5 Mazda/Perkins or the Nissian.

You Wuss.
I made it all the way their in a TD with overheating problems which meant I was going most of the way at 40-45mph, still made it though.
No, it got there ok even towing the trailer. Got home ok as well, even after getting run into by a motor bike at Billing with no insurance.
Its just I want to do it a bit quicker.

Mike,
I think the best show was the National 4x4 show at Trentham Gardens, ok Trentham has now closed but the Middle of england is a far distance between futhest south of England and southern scotland. Too be honest I'd happily travel 100miles north for a good show as I think everything is too far south.
Thats the one I was thinking bout.

Well if you wanted to sell the tdi or the autobox or both i would be interested!
but i would say keep the tdi and look to change the gearing 4 speed or T box to 1.6 if it struggles with the hills.
Well I did think about the 1.6, but then I would lose even more top end speed.
Lots of people keeping making me offers for the TDi

It's a good engine but it's hardly the pinnacle of engine technology, you're never going to shred the tarmac with a 200TDi unless you spend megabucks tuning it, so why bother when you could spend far less and drop in a more powerful lump from something else?
Thats my thinking.
There use to be lots of conversions for old Range Rovers and as my 110 has a RR box it makes things easer. I an trying to find an adaptor plater for a Toyota 4.2 or Nissian 3.5TD any one know of any?

Apart from the "after hours" bit this used to exist!
International 4x4 used to have an all marques show in High Wycombe.
Comp Safari on the Hill
Good off road course
Arena with dug out pits
Manufacturer stands / off road course(s) etc
Exhibitor stands
and better still, in the South of England where most of the population (and money) lives!
There use to be one like that at Tatten Park I think, was a good site. Its was more north than most shows.

The 200Tdi is a fine engine so should be coping well.
Why do you need bigger?
Personally I would look into a 4spd auto and maybe a transfercase
gearing change.
Well I want more power and more speed. A 4 speed auto would be good, but I would need new props and move the driver from the dash.
As for a transfer box, I run a 1.4 now and it strugles up some big hills. If I can find the right engine I can drop the transfer box to a 1.2 or 1.1

Battery cut off
in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)
Posted
I have put a cutoff switch into the earth side of the lead. I will only need this is an emergency, but i can also it as an anti-theft device.
Now the problem, how do I set something up so the stero will not lose all the settings. I did think of a very low fuse in the earth side but I tried a 1 amp, but the engine keeps running when the switch is off.
Any other ideas?
