  1. somebody I know here has driven a TD with a 3 speed auto on (it was his fathers - an unusual apparently-SV conversion for some electricity board or something, with a massive hyd winch on the front) he said it was ok as long as you were not in any sort of a hurry but it wasn't exactly a ball of fire!

That what mine is, but the last owner put the 200tdi in. It was a Southern Electricity board one. Mine has the Superwinch 525 hydraluic winch on it as well.

Do you have any more info on it as I do not know of any others, but was led to belive there was about 10 made.

  2. I once read that you don't need to turn the middles round just countersink the other side.

What say you lot ? Would save a lot of balancing, methinks

The "dish" bit in the centre goes the wrong way to do that with Disco wheels.

  3. Why not get some steel disco rims, grind the middle out and re-weld with the outer rim turned around?

Well he is going to try that as well, how hard was it to get the centres out?

  4. A mate of mine is looking for some big offset wheels for his Disco. Hes tried lots of places and only ones he can fine are Mach 5s  and you know what I think of them.

But where can he get some? Anything will do before he goes to Tomcat for the Mach 5s.

  5. Its only a requirement for climbing work, unless you feel you want one, I warn you though have your weetabix as the jackets are flippin heavy and you will be two inches shorter after wearing one!! :D

lol, don't need one a lot, only when laneing

  6. Paul

Are you after a jacket with protection in it??

    Matt

Yep Ebay is a good place if you are confidant about sizes! I have to try all my trousers on to get the right leg length being a lanky so and so!

Yes Matt, I will get one one day ;) Its the only bit of PPE I am missing. I have the Bib-braces-trousers.

  7. Got a lot of my PPE from Ebay  Just get the proper stuff. Stihl boots new for £65 should have been a lot more. Trousers for £30 from the car boot brand new. But got a brand new Stihl hard hat from a tools place by me £25. Gloves again from car boot new for £5. I have not found a jackey as yet ;)

  8. Just changed the transfer box in my 110, it has a 3 speed auto fitted. A point to note is you have to keep the main gear out of the one fitted now as the one thats on the 4 speed may not be the same. I had a transfer bx (1.4) out of a 90 and the gears are not the same. The spines on the main shaft are not the same.

  9. Don't forget "Beyond the Legend" which opened at the Halewood factory in March ( I think ).

You get to see both Jag x type ( Mondeo) and Freelander 2 being built, and there is a new off road section as well

Did Halewood about 3 weeks ago. Cost £10.

  10. Has anyone experianced problems with Mach5 rims, was telling a friend i was thinking of getting a set and he said there had been problems with them. Seems some of them have been cracking where the spoke meets the centre plate. Anyone on here have any comment on this as they sem a very popular wheel.

I will not comment on them  But if you do a search you will find at least 2 long threads about them.
