  1. With the Ripspeed (rebadged Cobra seats sold by Halfords at a much lower price) ones that I sold to Barry (Holyzeus) the whole seat had to come out to access the battery. Easy enough on the Exmoor Trim subframes as it was the usual 4 bolts and lift out... You can now buy the Exmoor Trim LeMans seats that are a 'fast road' seat. They have a removable bottom, but you will be looking at a fair few £££s... The Ripspeed seats were very comfortable for me (wider than average), but I found that the truck cab meant that they couldn't be reclined far enough to stop them pushing my shoulders forward (I'm 6'3" as well as wide...). I previously had them in a hard-top 90 with no bulkhead and they were fantastic...
  2. They were price matching their own prices... I 'compared' the prices for the two cars and got 2 prices. Add them together and take away the approx. 10% discount for multicar policy and it was cheaper to accept the 2 new policies through the comparison site than it was to renew my current multicar policy... (this is for a standard Disco 2 and a Seat Leon, so no modifications...) They saw the error of their ways and made it worth my while not even considering the other companies that came up...
  3. Definitely sounds like it's time to ask them whether they actually want your business then, James.
  4. Really.... I went for an assessment a while ago and used a trailer that belonged to the training company. It was a twin axle box trailer and it was loaded with approx. 1 ton of sandbags..... My Disco 2 was really struggling to pull it, it was that heavy!! Just my experience as I haven't actually done the test yet and am reading all this with interest.
  5. Cheers Sara. Trying to strike a balance between expenditures at the mo, so anything that's going to cost needs to be planned!! Look forward to more info when it's available... Adrian
  6. Are the rules and regs that will be used decided yet? I'm guessing that they will be pretty much the same as this years series, but a heads up on any likely changes would be dead useful if you know them... Cheers Adrian
  7. Just renewed mine on the 90 and it's the same price as last year, even after declaring a few additional modifications that have been carried out over the past year... Admiral tried to explain the same to me when I renewed for the other 2 cars, but after quoting them their cheaper prices for new policies found through a comparison site, they soon saw the light and made the whole lot about £90 cheaper than last year... Definitely worth a phone call and some probing questions....
  8. Buzzers are normally fitted to 'pattern' or 'retro-fit' towbar installations to make it easier for the installer. Most manufacturer installed systems will have a warning light in the dash. Try taking the buzzer out, extending the wires and mounting it somewhere more audible, or take it's details and find another of the same rating, but with a louder output, to put in it's place. You can tidy the whole lot back in behind the light unit once the test is out of the way...
  9. Can't help with the resetting process, but... [shameless advertisement] I have a spare injector pump in the garage if it's any use... No longer required for any of my fleet, so that might be a bit more simple... [/shameless advertisement] Came off of a Discovery, but they are the same and it will be easy to fit as you already have all of the right brackets. Make me a silly offer if it's of any use. Cheers Adrian
  10. Ahhh. Ta for the pointer. I'm guessing the damaged bit will be between the door pillar and the actual door inside the rubber conduit/trunking??
  11. The central locking operates all 4 passenger doors from both the keyfob and the drivers door lock. The rear tailgate solenoid does not operate at all. It doesn't even make a noise like it's 'on it's way out', it just does nothing. The tailgate release button does not release anything, so I'm mainly looking for a way to get the tailgate open in order to investigate further...
  12. Problem with the neighbour's P38. Searching has thrown up lots of solutions to the problems of a failed central locking solenoid, but ours is a more physical issue... Is there a method to get the tailgate open, or do I have to squeeze between the rear seats, gas tank and dog guard to do a fix from the inside?? TIA Adrian
  13. Some good pics in there Barry. Good to see Steve out and hobbling about!
  14. Well, Round 6 provided our best event of the series! Wonderful little site at Coney Green which is quite deceiving. Started the day dreading all of the long slopes and work-out that the winches were going to get, but ended the day being completely baffled by how much we managed to drive! Plenty of Solihul Slide action saw many a punch gobbled up without the use of either winch. There were some nasty little punches on quite tippy side slopes that you don't quite realise until you are half-way into them!! Dead chuffed to finish 4th in class and with our overall series position. Only damage for the day was a a wing mirror, a rear indicator lens and a snapped rear winch rope, so not bad really on a site with plenty of trees to 'park' against! Many thanks to Paul and Lucy at Challenger for setting the whole series up. The AWDC for their support and 'supervision' and all the marshalls and back-stage crew that made the whole series possible. Adrian and Mark (team 4) Bring on the pictures and next years events...
  15. Likewise, a connection to the bulkhead wouldn't provide much structural reinforcement. Personally I'd rather bend the wings than the bulkhead... They are certainly a lot easier to replace!!
  16. Weld a piece of bar between the chassis rails to stop them spreading or narrowing when you cut the old one out. Make sure the wiring loom is out of the way before you smell it burning...
  17. Have a search for The Bishtail in the Members Vehicle Section. Bish made a very good bumper for the back of his bobtail. Admittedly with different mounting points/style but you will get some more ideas from it.
  18. Evening! I work in Borough Green (live in Larkfield) and have some experience of RRs. I can also bring a friend who has owned Classic RRs for years, so between us we can dampen your spirits brighten your day!! My signature will point you to a couple of threads about my previous projects and give you a few links to what we've experienced over the years! Drop me a PM and we can arrange to come over if you want... Cheers Adrian
  19. Thanking you muchly... OS ref: SO794713 for those that just want a quick reference...
  20. Nice work Ben, but can you explain why our scores (Team 4) are different between the Overall and the Class 1 sheets?
  21. I've hunted and found a few references to Coney Green Farm on other websites, but acn anyone give us a post code or grid reference (including the steet reference) for the site?
  22. Well with you 2 in it, it'll definitely be camp.... See you there....some time on Saturday afternoon, hopefully!
  23. I don't believe you Chris!! Maybe throwing a sleeping bag in the back of a van or on the back seat of the RR....
  24. Was just thinking about asking the same question! We'll be there - assuming Mark's flight isn't delayed. Not sure how effective a jet-lagged winch b#tch will be, but we've done all the events so far and are determined to get to this one too. Camping will be interesting, and fresh, but nothing a nice cup of tea won't cure!! See you there.....
  25. Coroded or punctured fuel line? Have seen it before along the chassis rail of a Discovery and could be as small as a pin prick, but under load it causes problems...
