  1. So just been out for a 30 mile round trip - fast moving A @~60-65mph roads and my temp gauge didnt even get to half way - in fact I dont even think it got 1/4 ! heater air was 'warm' compared to normal Just wondered if this was just a result of the really cold weather and I need a rad muff or is it something worse? (I did wonder if it was anything to do with les putting my new crossmember on it on friday - but I think I have ruled that out ) Any ideas - apart from the usual wear a coat and gloves!
  2. Yes I do and I was suggesting it as a possible solution if your read my response properly if you could find a similar type Responses like this make this forum less interesting.........
  3. Might be worth seeing if you can get jelly wire - which is what BT use underground and overground. Its basically a flexible (ish) cable encased in a vaseline like jelly and then got a black outer sheath on it. Then if the cable gets damaged, the jelly keeps the wires waterproof. Im just not sure to what size/diamter and rating they make this style of cable up to - but worth having a hunt around with the big wire suppliers.

  5. Show me a camera that can do what a policeman can do and they will get my vote - until then they are kodak tax machines. (police in cars can detect cars driven erratically/dangerously/weaving due to too much drink / drugs etc). Re ID cards, if the UK govnmt could be trusted not to leave the data in a lap dancing club i woudlnt mind - but they cant - so i do
  6. i like the front indicator and fuel filler treatment on the yellow one
  7. sit on hands... put hands in pocket GLOVES
  8. I wouldnt drive it - its only got 4 wheel nuts And somebody has spelt land rover wrong on the door oh - and as mentioned ^^ the rust has reached parts other rust cannot reach...........
  9. I have just renewed my D90 (with no mods mind you - but they did offer a section about mods so suggests they may accept some) with LV for 139.00 fully comp with 70.00 cashback = 70.00 for me and the wife with 4000 miles per annum (this was cheaper than with Lancaster who I was with last year!)
  10. takes a while to get into the illitrerate americanisms! Whoever did the delorean should be shot...

  12. I thought it was the AMV8 that he had? Its nothing new - theres a RR 4.4 vogue on a forecourt near me 52 plate - 10k and they cant sell that either ! its interesting how all the aspirational wannabes who borrowed up to the hilt to have a flash motor are now having to go back to be focus or equivalent drivers.... perhaps disposing of all the heavy iron work was not such a bad thing for ford in the long run.... (and its gonna get worse from next year when the road tax rates go up even more !)
  13. maybe - it was recorded on wednesday - post woss and bwand... yet they still went ahead with the comments. I thought it was quite funny as you say a couple of laugh out loud moments! - the porn bit I wasnt so worried about - it wasnt playboy/girl after all ! BUT, the dead prostitutes bit was a bit OTT
  14. Landrover/Bearmach/any other 3rd party supplier. When I bought one a few years back from Bearmach in was actually a genuine item. Look thru the for sale list on here or you could try fleebay.

now thats a bootiful view - how do you get any work done !!!
  16. Sorry to hear this- a friend used them and said they were very good. But I agree re using large stocks as your differentiator. I see the www.theseagraveclub.co.uk is also in administration (a bit rich for my pockets - but shows that nobody is immune!) Si - procompuk front page is down on the web, but the site is there behind it - might be worth checking with procomp in san fancisco?
  17. shame you dont know what temp the thermostat opened at ..if it was head gasket I would have expected you would have less water when you returned to when you set off. Is the exhaust tailpipe 'clean' - ie steam cleaned or is it dry and full of soot still? Me still thinks its an airlock or is it possible youve got a dodgy thermostat - I would take it off and meausre the temp it opens at. and do a compression test - that way youll know for sure.
  18. when you say exiting - do you mean the water is dropping in front of your eyes? If not then I would look for an air lock somewhere first ... did you measure how much water you put in originally and was the water level lower when you got home? I cant see how changing a water pump and p gasket woudl make the head all of a sudden fail - that would be a big co-incidence!
  19. that is interesting - so is the stuff they sell: http://www.nrjr.co.uk/online_shop.php if they are acquiring the aforementioned company - they will merge together nicely - go to their online shop - add something to the cart, then go to checkout - and the price per unit is GBP0.00 Another company who doesnt like advertising their prices
  20. whats the link between www.scorpionracing.com and www.scorprionracing.co.uk? (apart from a scorpion thats done a u-turn and a slightly differnt font and the .com hasnt been updated since 2005...). Are they linked - or is it another immitation?
  21. as western says drill thru the spotwelds on the strengthener and remove - then measure - ideally measure the apperture in a renault master if this is where the glass is coming from. mark it out with soft pencil - check & double check. when yr happy drill hole in corner then its best to use an air nibbler imho.
  22. You need to look at the documents issued by the government tax collectors, see from Think! :- Seat belt wearing law does not currently prevent you from carrying more adult passengers than there are seat belts available, but the law will change in 2009. This means that in vehicles where seat belts are fitted the number of passengers must not exceed the number of seats available fitted with seat belts. Children up to 135cms in height must have child restraints with few exceptions. It is an offence if the way in which passengers are carried causes danger to any person in the vehicle. Do not overload a vehicle. If you have adult passengers without a seat belt remember that they can cause injury to others in an accident. This could be interpreted as "if its got a seatbelt you have to wear it", but that law already exists, which is why I think it means "no seatbelt = cant use seat whilst vehicle is in motion" and is worded as such to cover cars manufactured before the mandatory seatbelts fitting laws for first front and then rear seats - thus not forcing owners of classic cars (ie series 1's and 2's) to retro fit seatbelts. (but Im not a legal or EU legifluff expert !!) It looks like its actually May 2009 for the new law to become operative FWIW to the OP here is a link to the EC directive banning side facing seats on M1 vehicles: http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/em2006/uksiem_20060142_en.pdf
  23. until next year - when all seats have to have a seatbelt
  24. yep the metal ones have rubber rings (the o ring type not the ones you put on your kids arms )
