  1. Hi Western, No, I didn't explain it well. I plan to offer a 300tdi bulkhead to a V8 tunnel and seat base, need to now if they will fit together. Thank you,
  2. Hi there, I'm looking for parts to convert my 110 from LHD to RHD, but there are some concerns regarding my seat base and tunnel. The car is a 1990 ex-MoD V8 converted to diesel with a BN 300tdi and R380 in 2002, retaining (AFAIK) the old bulkhead, seat base and gearbox tunnel. Now I'm in the search of a 300tdi RDH bulkhead but.... - Does it fit the gearbox tunnel I have? - Do I have to source another tunnel and seat base to match the 300tdi bulkhead? Many thanks in advance, advice is really needed. Carlos

  4. Hi, Back in Madrid after 2 x 1200 miles. A bit disappointed by the sortout... although I drove back to Spain happy with my new carp. Really enjoyed the Camel area. This time I arranged a nice Bed & Breakfast after the nasty experiences I had at Billing and Newark. There will be improvements in show campings, one day, I hope.
  5. Hi, I run a 14V drill directly connected to the cigarette socket. In the drill side a pair of crocodile clip leads clamped (observe right polarity) and to keep both clips tight in place and isolated, a small sock (it was supposed to be a temporary solution.. but after three months I can't imagine anything easyer than this...) I have a small inverter, too. Something around 20 Euro and 75 Watts. It moves the dremel tool quite fast, and sometimes I use it to plug a neon workshop light. Going for something bigger doesn't worth the effort, I think. The only thing I would consider is another small converter, for redundancy.
  6. Hi, In Spain there is a legal requirement to carry one, CE marked, hi-viz jacket for the driver, BUT if any of your passengers is caught out of the vehicle without wearing its own hi-viz jacket, then he/she might be fined. On the other hand, as they are so cheap, it's ok to carry some in the car. Two CE marked emergency triangles are mandatory; if a single direction lane you have to put one in the rear of your vehicle (don't remember the distance, but something between 50 and 200 meters) and in double direction lanes you have to put one in the front, too. Some old triangles doesn't have any CE mark on them, but I hardly imagine any Spanish policeman arguing something about yours. In the past, it was mandatoy to have spare bulbs and tools to replace them, as well as a complete spare wheel and a jack. Now these requirements are withdrawn, as some modern cars don't have spares for their xenon or led lights and others don't have any factory installed spare wheel. But I can't imagine myself leaving the spare wheel at home...
  7. Sorry, I forgot to mention that your headlamps hold a CE mark on them. Officially, if you place anything on it (like the ferry stikers or the much better option of black electric tape) you are voiding this certification and could be fined. But no Spanish police men will say you anithing about it, I think. May be in Germany you might be caught by the Polizei... http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Land_Rover_Discovery_SeriesII_1998-2004_Polizei_NRW_Germany_front_2006-08-26_A.jpg Carlos
  8. Hi Chris, When do you plan to come to Spain ? I live in Madrid, so I can PM my mobile phone number should you need some help here. On the other hand, in Spain is mandatory to have a technical document of the trailer, issued by the manufacturer where the main figures like size, weight and tyre size are hereby declared (I towed a Sankey from UK bought at War & Peace Show, and now I have to pay a fortune to get its papers by a Spanish engineer). If the maximun weight of the trailer (empty weight + load) is greater than 750 kilos, then the trailer needs its own number plate, its own MOT, its own V5.. and its own assurance. Fortunately, the Spanish road police don't use to bother tourists (and they don't use to speak a single word of English) so you shoudn't be alarmed by my previous statemens. There are some other illegal practices in Spain that you use to see in UK, like lights in the roof, number plate in the front of the roof rack, towing another vehicle with a bar... and new laws (thanks for being europeans) strictly regulate the installation/modification of roll cages, winches, bumpers, tyres... and everything you may imagine. Regards, Carlos
  9. Let me suggest to clean deeply the surroundings of the solenoid before removing it, as any dirt may fall inside of the pump... and this is not a good business. If you remove the spring and plunger and screw the solenoid again (no need of DC cable in this case) you should be able to start the engine but, remember, to stop it you have to engage a gear and stall it.
  10. Hi, After some search, I found a nice detailed list about LR studs here: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=34407&view=&hl=ruf000020&fromsearch=1 I agree with you about running wolf rims with standard studs (I had a series with disco rims and never had a problem with it). But my real concern comes from the wheel spacer... there are less than 7 turns in the nut... so I was planning to press new studs to the spacer, although the spacer and the added offset of the wolf rim makes the defender to look a bit strange... Don't know what I will do about this issue. I was just picking some information. Thanks a lot, Carlos
  11. Hi, Almost the same car, surely the same problem. Are FRC7577 mandatory or just the bit longer RUF000020 are enough to hold wolf rims in place ? Carlos
  12. Hi, Thank you for the advice about snapped carrots, I will gor for a BOW1 instead. Regarding the BOW2 availability, there is a firm here in Spain who is selling them (I have to confess that I have never seen a real BOW2 in my life and have no way to say if it's real or a chinesse thing ) for 399 euro. But being awared about carrots and scammers... I'll try to buy a BOW1 once my mate gives me (for free ) the fried 8274. Thank you for the precise information, your comments are really valuable, Carlos
  13. Hi, I have been offered a fried M8274, so I'm evaluating some options to fit a new motor. I have been told that Bow1 is a direct replacement but, what about the Bow2 ? anyone tried or knows if it's possible to do so? Thanks in advance, Carlos
  14. Hi from Spain, As posted in Billing thread, next 17th I'll be crossing the Channel from Boulogne-sur-Mer to attend Billing (17th & 18th) and Newark (19th); a couple of days later War&Peace show... and then back to Madrid. Ex-MoD 110 GS converted to 300tdi with Spanish plates, easily recognizable (LHD). Carlos
  15. Hi from Spain, Next 17th crossing the Channel to attend Billing (17th & 18th) and Newark (19th); Then War&Peace show... and then back to Madrid. Ex-MoD (LHD) 110 GS converted to 300tdi with Spanish plates. Carlos
  16. Hi Ralph, Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately in this post is mentioned that the thread might be different... but no idea on wich adaptor fits the wolf pipes... FFR
  17. Hi, I'm planning to add an oil cooler to the gearbox, using the ESR2749 pipes. I know that both FTC1404 and FTC2687 fits the gearbox, but I have been told that threads are different. As I plan to use MIL pipes (300tdi+R380), anybody knows which is the right part? Thanks, FFR
  18. Hi, Extracted from MoD web page: " It is intended that the Panther will replace vehicles including Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (Tracked), Fighting Vehicle 430, Saxon, and Land Rover Truck Utility Medium. " Source: http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceN...Afghanistan.htm YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CArpSO0fz3A Cheers, Carlos
  19. Great ! Thank you for the info, Ralph Carlos
  20. Hi all, May be the "Wanted" section the right one for this post, but as I have no exact idea on what I'm looking for, I thought this section will be nice. I plan to convert my ex-MoD GS 110 to a camper and, being myself a bit longer than the average, and being the height inside a standard 110 a bit tight... I was guessing that an ambulance fiberglass heightened roof wold be an easy/dependable solution. So, any idea on where can I find something like this? (thanks to www.ukemergency.co.uk): www.ukemergency.co.uk/ambulance/dscd0506.jpg www.ukemergency.co.uk/ambulance/amb16.htm Cheers, Carlos
  21. Hi, It seems that there is more air than water in you circuit. Did you measure the water volume you fill in the circuit ? compare it with the motor specs, there must be some missing liters... C.
  22. By the way, Land Rover Defender is the #1 4x4 in Munich; you will see some X3s (as taxis !!!), X5s, a few Mercedes Geländewagen... but you will mostly see Defenders. C.
  23. Hi Ross, After reading your post I have to confess that I'm really green with envy  ... I work for a german company and I plan to move to Munich in a few moths. I use to go there about every five weeks and I'm delighted with the city (specially when compared with Madrid ) Regarding the issue of the post, take a look at: http://www.toytowngermany.com/ as it is plenty of information about cars (and other useful information) posted by ex-pats who moved to Germany. You will find information there about importing your car from UK (or another country in the continent) and details about german MOT. regards, Carlos
  24. Hi, It is really easy to check your breathers. Both breathers (gearbox and transfer box) run together to the top of the engine bay, at the right side of the engine (looking in front of the car). These are black, 4mm core plastic pipe like those used in water-irrigation farms. Locate the end of the pipes and simply blow slowly on them. You will feel how you can introduce a small amount of air in the gearbox/transfer, and when you release the pressure the air will softly escape from the pipe. If the breathers are blocked, you won't be able to blow on the pipes. Isn't it silly ???? C.
  25. Oh, Simon, what a shame... ...the guy who sold me the steering box promoted himself with the argument "buy a new box from me, rather than a poorly reconditioned from others..." I paid (in euros) 417 GBP  Hopefully I will be leaving this country in a few months... C.
