  1. Driving in France is like driving in the UK / just on the other side.. We go everywhere with both Series and Defenders and prefer the RN´s. Less stress, more to see and the voyage is part of the whole thing.. Speedlimit is to be obeyed, HiViz vest per seat compulsory, as is the warning tiangle and the analyser. Bring 2 as you need to carry one and once the 1st one is used you still have the other one. Fuel off AutoRoute / Peage / is cheaper and most supermarkets have 24/7 card operated fuel. CC usu works. Please bring your green card as proof of insurance, the logbook and your drivers licence. Don' t laugh, we have loads of clients who forget things.. Enjoy
  2. This is what we have. IH Scout box & arm - takes LR ball joint Defender Collumm Jaguar "prop shaft" Jaguar pump Vehicle runs on 235's and this worked very well with both the 2.25 turbo & 2.5 N/A diesel it has had. When the 200 Tdi goes in I will keep this box.
  3. We have been taking Series Land Rovers off Tarmac for too many years and they are just different from Defenders. And yes, we have a Ninety and a One-Ten, too. You don't need many things to make them go almost everywhere : good driver and some decent tyres will do the trick usu. This is the Mrs. one and a bit modified. Disc brakes are not a must but make behaviour a bit more predictable. Powersteering makes it easier for her to use after her illness. A 200 Tdi is to go in late this year because the 2.5 N/A is getting old. Just enjoy the Series and learn from using it it.
  4. Thank you. At the moment very busy with testing the 110 to gain trust after a serious problem with oil leaks and I need her for the Greenlane Trips to do the job. Toilet, kitchen, fridge, heating, interior etc. need to go in and please remember that English is not my native language.. http://s178.photobucket.com/user/wilderbrook/media/2014-02-23%20%20Rechter%20voorzijde.jpg.html
  5. Ask IW - they should know how to comply with the Approval given to the trailer. Will save you a lot of problems perhaps..
  6. As you live in the UK - I think it just stops at 3.5 tonnes. Get a truck to do it - just not worth it. Here, France, we have the option of using different attachments (like mini truck jaws) and air brakes to go to 4.5 or 5 tonnes. However, it is not fun. We have a 4.5 tonne trailer and loaded to 3.5 tonnes, the 300 Tdi really needs to work and stopping on the hills is just not very.... relaxing.
  7. Nice post to read having just finished wiring a 110 from scratch with a very custom loom and some extra's... Living on the Continent means I can't say anything on the UK situation bet here it is very much up to the tester to decide if it will pass. All functions need to be there, flash rate needs to be correct etc. If there is any interest I can do a write up on what I did but I must warn you - it will upset a few people as I went a bit OTT
  8. Interesting ! We went the IH scout route many years ago and a very good conversion it is.
  9. We have Zeus on the Hybrid at all 4 corners. Good deal saw me after a long time finally getting brakes that will just do that - stop you in a straight line. Here, France, brakes are the 1 thing that old vehicles are tested very strictly on. Serious money but also serious stopping power.
