  1. i will check it tomorrow and make sure it has enough volts to it but noting has changed on the system other than the winch and the old one worked ok
  2. the motor is clean and the brushes are like new and free the winch itself is clean and oiled inside as i totally stripped it before painting it i have used the same wire that was on my truck already and that was ok on my old winch apart from a carp cut off switch and i replaced that before putting the warn on at work i hooked the cable to a container we have out the back and the truck was on damp long grass foot on the brake and it was just about manageing to move the truck and i mean only just like mm by mm old winch was a cheap one from ebay and that would drag my truck along tarmac with all the wheels locked all be it slowly
  3. Evening all not really sure where to post this so ill try in here recently got a warn 8274 and got it all clean and painted fitted to the truck looks good waiting for some rope for it but fitted my steel cable from my old winch to check it all works under load and stuff and it does well kind of anyway very suprised to find how easy it is to nearly stall the thing now i know they are geared fast and its way faster than my old one under no or light loads, its an old one but had a new motor put on it a few years back and to be honest the motor looks really well inside and is a splined drive one??? im led to belive the early ones had a keywayed motor is this true?? does andone know how to tell what hp motor i have its got a warn plate and serial number on it but no other markings?? starting to think its a 2.5hp one and the only way its gonna pull my truck on anything other than a slight incline is to change the motor for a bow motor or something with more balls any ideas?????? many thanks
  4. was it passed through the inside of the rear hoop then out over the front to rear roof bar?
  5. What type of dyson ya got? had a problem with the animal one in our house and managed to sort it myself after phoneing the help line about five million times to be told it seemed fine over the phone and all they could do was send an someone out to service it and check it over
  6. Exactly how did ya pass it through the cage? as in where did it exit from the truck? Thanks
  7. so you can pass the rope through what ever way ya wanna pull the truck? this looks like the way forward just need to find out if its still as usefull if the top fairlead is mounted a bit further back than yours as i want to king cab mine to keep some room inside
  8. been looking through a few posts on here and there is mention of people useing a rear winch to do center pulls as well any one got and pics of this set up i could have a look at??? thinking of king cabbing my truck and fitting my now front winch to the rear as im on the look out for a new front one and was wondering if it could be mounted and used as both as i would see a rear being more useful but a center could be handy to have on occasions. any one have any idea how powerful a winch would have to be to pull a 90 back on its wheels from having a lay down????
  9. not new to off roading just want to move on a bit and like the idea of winch challenges but just wanna know what im letting myself in for have a few of us that are thinking about trying it probably to find we are plop at it but guess ya need to start somewhere are there any that are done in teams?
  10. any one know of any challenges comeing up that are viewer friendly? or any sites to keep an eye on for up coming events? thanks for the advise so far
  11. Hello all I have been thinking about having a go at a novice winch challenge just to see if its something i would like to do on a regular basis so a few questions from someone who might be trying to get into challenges 1 How are the courses set out? are they made to be near impossible to drive? 2 What would you say the the esential bits of kit are to start with? 3 How are they scored. timed or by how many punches ya get or what? 4 Is it possible to go along to any events to see all the action in person or is that not allowed? Now i know my 90 will not be anything like competetive im sure of that but i would like to have a go and see how it goes any ideas of where to start something where they dont mind novices getting in the way? and any of you got any advise, words of wisdom, for a newbie to the scene or anything you may feel one may need to know before setting out to do this would be muchly apreciated many thanks in advance
  12. good idea i guess just replace the rear glass with two odd shaped bits of perspex that over fit round the bars and overlap to keep the weather out i guess
  13. Hello all Due to a slight falling over in my 90 i need to change the roof and a side panel now while doing this i thought i might do a king cab coversion as i like the truck cab but want some extra dry space inside. So now the problem i have a whitbread part internal part external cage fitted to it now not wanting to replace the whole cage has anyone got any ideas on how to sort out the rear cage stay problem ie the fact the stays want to pass through the rear window that i would like to keep? been looking at it today thinking about making the rear body work the same shape as the cage ie sloped but think it would look a bit poo!!!! any ideas chaps? anything considered other than buying a whole new cage many thanks
  14. had the same happen to mine for ages and you can keep cleaning the motor out and freeing it off but it will still keep blowing fuses after a while and mine went on for about six months or so until it just stopped and needed a new motor they are cheap enough and easy to do if it happened again i wouldnt bother trying to clean it just put another one in
  15. Thanks for the advise mate rang today and only managed to get three of the six trucks that were gonna go in, as there is a club of some sort there apparently
  16. Do you happen to know if its open every Sunday?
  17. Hello all A few mates and I are thinking of going to the three holes off road site this weekend just wondering if any of you have been there before and could tell me what its like???? Any one up for joining us?????? many thanks
  18. ok so a few of you use the warn 8274 or sound like you have brought them second hand. what are the main things to check on a used one as in not to give top dollar for something thats gonna need a total rebuild costing loads? some iv seen have no solenoids or wireing. so any thing to check any pointers? have heard tings about the freespool lever bings a bit weak i think but any pointers would be apreciated can they die from just laying around in a shed somwhere? many thanks
  19. this is the thing im going through at the moment and it seems you either go second hand warn that you cant know how its been treated or for the same sort of money a brand new goodwinch tds one with warranty and its new or for a bit more one with a bowmotor 2 large drum and 125feet of rope! seems silly thinking about it. but looking at all the pics and vids of events they all have warn 8274s with twin motor top houseings and stuff is a lowline winch such as the tds competative out in events? against the warn?
  20. where abouts are you based? i know of a barn that has some of there stuff in where it was stored and there are some roof racks in there but not sure if there is one of that type? i could have a word with the owner and see if there is one in there but not sure how much he would want for it????
  21. i have one the same on my 90, not bad for the money as said above the solenoids are pants and mine got full of carp and shorted out but got some sealed ones fron winch solutions and all ok again not gonna win any races with it but its cheap
  22. Ill be there on sat fourth year in a row. does anyone know if they will be running the trucks by twisted performance and td5 alive on the sat?
  23. hello all it seems the clutch in my truck is about to give up (started to slip when the turbo gets going) so its gonna be replacement time soon now what options do i have my truck is used mostly as my off road toy is there a clutch that will stand up to the abuse a bit more than a standard one? im sure iv read somewhere about people putting hd 130 clutchs in any advise welcomed oh dont know if it makes any difference but the engine and box are out of a disco???
  24. Thanks western have looked at the site and they sell the lower part i have you ever fitted one?ie do they fit well? guess i will have to make up a plate for the upper part
  25.
