if only id taken the one off the disco i used as the donor could have used the drop arm and steering arms as well

evening all i have posted on here about a steering box leak and found out i have a six bolt steering box on my 90 just wondered if any other box will fit? are there any beter than others? and can any be swapped between models? ie disco to 90? any info would be helpful many thanks

old shape renault espace have a twin fan sat in a fan shroud thats front mounted and they move alot of air got some sat at work i think but your quite a way from me

Evening all Got in my 90 the other day when leaving work and as i pulled off there was one hell of a clunk from the rear end so stopped for a look under it all was where it should be, so off i went bang change gear bang change gear bang and so on till i got home and got under it. found the a frame joint has decided it dont wanna do its job anymore the question is is it worth putting an ajustable one like xeng sell? or any other makes that are good as iv heard that some joints are not as good on articulation as others like xeng site says any advice? experiences? ones to stay away from? ones to buy? many thanks oh has anyone ever had one let go completly?????????????

i have put 3 water pumps on my 300tdi in the last year 1st one i put on when the p gasket went and i thought it would be a good idea to change it,this fell apart and trashed the new belt id put on phoned up the supplier and they sent another one and a new belt free of charge five months later i noticed a puddle of water under my truck sure enough water pump leaking so took the belt off to check it and the bearings had failed so caught it before it exploded. phoned them again and they said that they would supply me a airtex one if i payed the difference in price they would get it to me next day free of charge, and touch wood its ok so far so from personal experience i would go with an airtex one

i have the same problem on my drivers door everything seems to be where it should and work as it should but out of the blue bang door open gonna try fitting a new door lock mechanism to it and see if that helps

Thanks i have a six bolt one then if you mean the ones on the top plate where the ajuster is. think ill just do the drop arm for now as a bit skint at the mo.... thanks for the help

ok next question and it is one i think i already know the answer to when ordering bits for steering boxes the 3 4 6 bolt thing does this refere to the that go through the chassis leg? as i have 5 mount bolts 4 through the chassis and one through a bar thats attached further up the chassis does this mean i have a 4 bolt steering box? also as im gonna take the drop arm off and i have a slight leak from the seal on the shaft the drop arm is attached to thought i might replace the seal any of you done this and its cured the leak or is it new box time????? many thanks

hello all have got alot of play in the steering again and the dam drop arm joint has given up again so need to do something with it and have heard of fitting a disco 1 arm so the joint is not part of the drop arm. is this just a strait swap or does it need some fab work? also i guess i would need the steering rod thats fixed to the disco drop arm??? any help would be muchly appreciated many thanks

Hello all does anyone know if the offset of a set of modular steel wheels is bigger than the set of freestyle(i think thats what they are) alloys i have off of a disco ie stick out further that is? if so does anyone want to swap a set of 5 very good condition alloys for some modular wheels thanks

id go with the flange swap as i did try and do the pinion bearings on my old diff and it didnt go well and ended up having to get a second hand one that ended up with play in the pinion that iv just had rebuilt by the chaps at kam diffs.

i have a whitbread off road part internal part external on my hard top and its fine fitted well and wes all bent up ok also they were very helpfull when i phoned about fitting it as the instructions were a bit unclear in certain areas but that wont bother you if get them to fit it. have since modified mine with some more external bars along the roof line to protect the rear hard top

Well iv stripped the winch today and it turns out the motor is shot to plop anyway as well as the solenoids ans its been outside and all the cable conectors on them have rusted away. as for the rest of it the freespool lever has just snaped out of the end case so getting a qoute from goodwinch for the bits needed to change it over to 12v and the new case,lever bit that broke just need to take some pics for them to see what lever it is. i guess there are several models of x9 winches? have any of you got one on here?? are they any good??? many thanks

Hi all Iv been given an x9 winch for nothing as it is of unknown age or working condition. at present its 24v its all there from what i can see apart from the controller. its been sat outside for a while by the looks of it and the clutch lever wont move. its gonna need some work i think now is it possible to run a 24v winch on a 12v truck as iv seen quite often on different sites and truck 24v winches fitted and dont know if they are 24v trucks?? or do i change all the electrics to 12v and will it work ok? ie are the 12v + 24v winches the same apart from the motor and solenoids? if either of the above are possible what would be cheaper or better??? is it worth the hassle to sort it out are they any good? at present i have a cheap 12000lb winch from ebay on the front and would like someting better but cant afford a warn 8274 at the mo just ordered a locker winch fund gone for a while many thanks

ok get ya you want a fit and forget type one. i was the same with the arb have seen lots with broken air pipes and compressor problems. but did like the diff pan on the kam one

well iv just ordered a kam diff locker from kam diffs chaps are very helpful.even when i phoned them about setting up my standard diff i havent got it yet but ill let you know how it ges when i get it in and working if thats any help at all? can i ask why you dont want an arb?

ill have a check of that tomorrow did your behave ok the rest of the time? ie pulling away and such? i can easily stay with the disco if not beat it to about 45 50 ish but after that its just gutless.

just been reading your post mate what pin was it? and will the pump on my 300 have the same pin???? what sort of top speed you get now coz i drove a disco today with the same engine and box and even the same tyres and it would pull 80 easily. thanks

Have changed all the filters today and cheked all the pipes to and from the turbo and even had the inter cooler out and cleaned all the crud out of the inside of it and all the mud from the fins and no joy so far. the boost on the guage says its boosting well all th time but a bit high maybe(16psi)? have taken the boost diafram cap off to see if the pump parts have marks on them from being ajusted but nothing there.i guess to reset it to standard it would be recon???? gonna order a lift pump tomorrow and see if that helps would my fuel pump have the same parts as the post about the 200tdi with low power??

Iv checked on my sat nav and followed someone doing 60 or tryed to.

The engine has done about 80000 miles now and yes it has the disco gear and transfer box and all the axels the lot under it. there is some black smoke from the exhaust under heavy load but not loads. there is no definate sound chance in the engine it just seems to run out of go.

Hello all i think i mey have a problem with my 90 as it will only pull about 60mph at a struggle in top any hint of a hill or head wind and its back down to 4th and can maintain about 55mph ish, now i know its no rocket ship but surely it should be faster than that? it pulls well in all the other gears? people have told me thy tyres wont help but they are only 265/75/16 insa turbos. its running on all disco 300 tdi parts engine,box the lot if that makes any difference? any ideas chaps oh and the owner of the disco had done a bit of tweeking with the boost and the fuel pump so couldthat be partly to blame ie not done rite???????????? many thanks

Hello all was wondering if anyone could tell me how bead lock rims work? Is it that the outer bead of the tyre is trapped between the two rings and bolted tight to stop the air leaking out? and are you allowed to have them fitted for road use in the uk as i have an american mate who is sure they are ilegal over there?
