  1. Well I have managed to fit my new wheel carrier Also I have added an information pack in pdf form for anyone willing to do it themselves. wheel_carrier.pdf
  2. Peel back the rubber cover on the bottom of the handbrake and there you will see the trip switch. Also do a search on this website. This subject came up earlier with a diagram and some extra advice.
  3. As long as they tell me not to put the swing away on the roof Hopefully the rear section will not look like perforated tea bag Due in tomorrow so fingers crossed and good weather here in old manchester land
  4. Well opened up my bank account and placed an order for the swing away carrier from paddocks. Thanks for all the advise.
  5. Sounds like the fuel expanded via the breather tube. The same principal is allowed on forecourts with the underground and exposed tanks. All have Breather pipes to vent excess increase in temp variations. The amount can be very obvious when I used to work on refueling helicopter and doing bulk fuel handling. If your repeating that idea of overfilling, may be worth extending the breather hose to allow expansion.
  6. Is it not the problem of how much effort into lock design by Land Rover the main cause. How easier would a thief approach if the lock was old fashion yale or common gate locks. I know this may sound trite. We seem in this modern technology world, suffer from common sense ideas when designing vehicle security. To the point when a would be robber or gang is now knocking on your property demanding the keys to the vehicle. How ironic if that is the correct term to use. When all this hue and cry over Quotation Four by Fours are the surge of the earth Close Quotation. Yet there seem to be a marked industry of spare parts of stolen to order of Defenders. Yet Land Rover design a door lock to open by a child with IQ of 2 open successfully. Great Idea.
  7. If I remember rightly the conditions was Humidity Rain Mud Tow rope Swearing Slipping in to jungle Lots of sand Fall on knees and praying to the Mayan gods . Then towed backwards via a donkey .
  8. Thanks for reply looks the better option and still cheaper.
  9. You could use Coconut Oil, There was plenty of that when I was stationed there. I'll get my coat.
  10. Sorry I have the standard one attached to the rear door now removed. I seen the one advertised by Paddocks. Looks a lot cheaper granted, but are they not made from the same amount of material just without the cover plate. When there locked to the rear door would this cause any knocking./Users/oakesy/Desktop/pm287.jpg.jpeg
  11. After removing rear door fixed wheel carrier. Frankly a bad design I think in that the weight causing my rear door to suffer. I have been browsing the LR Mags and noting the alternatives. What would you say is the best versions in the swing away types and how do they lock on the rear door. Is there noise issue with them.
  12. You may have a small leak near the carb. Check while on your pathway and feel around fuel connections. Also you could be running rich. Check the carb overflow outlet pipe if leaking carb float sticking. Check fuel line is not perished . Check fuel tank is not damage or leaking. hope this help
  13. try using some sealant on both connections this should create a tighter seal.
  14. If you got Mac OSX on a Mac Pro Intel use the Bootloader to install Windows XP. Heck of a lot cheaper.
  15. It is definately the element part that causing the problem as to the amount of silver paste been used. I think there a point when they outlive their usefulness. I did a quick check to see if the power is there and his came out okay. I only queried on whether to rig up a seperate area in the back for a cigarette lighter socket. Only snag I would have is to switch off. In what effect will connecting to the existing rear element loom wire cause as this goes through two fuses 10amp and my heater amp . Plus the advantage of a switch when acheiving desired evaporation.
  16. Pity well looks like plan B Live without the original lighter socket.
  17. Currently I am having to put up with hunt the break in the element game . So I thought sod this for game of soldiers. So I now use a portable car heater wrapped with duct tape to the hand rail aiming upwards. Great No I am down on the use of cigarette lighter socket. The question is. If I could reuse the defunct rear heater wires to a secondary fixed cigarette lighter socket?. Or will this wire be too weak in use with portable car heater. 110 csw 1988 3.5
  18. Are yes those bumpy roads Going from Salamanca to Ridou near Punta Gorda. Best time was when the chaps in the scimitars trundle by in the dry season and flatten those ruts :P :P What fun
  19. I am trying work out where I might have problem or maybe because of the winter. When I start my V8 sounds like it struggle to start first like each cylinder is dry and okay on the second start up. LPG is no problem I have even boosted the battery which kind of did the trick. But the battery only 2 1/2 years old. 3.5 V8 LPG 1988 CSW
  20. Are you near Belize Airport or the City. I used to live on the the camp and was eventually sent to Salamanca near San Antonio on the Guatamala border. The view of approaching Belize airport was terrific with all the palms. Then only to be confronted with 100% humidity and the bellowing cries of Moonies from the RAF base. While trying to grasp for air on an Batty's bus service to the billets quarter via the busted sewage pipes. Ah heady days    I loved every minute.
  21. So that explains why I keep seeing slightly balding bloke in my mirror
  22. Depend which age of the vehicle. Sunroof Assembly Manual : 314174 to HA906679, : JA906680 to LA939975. 4 parts Sunroof Assembly Twist Handle 3 parts Dealer John Craddocks or better a scrappy hope this helps regard oakesy
  23. 60 ltr lpg tank mainly mix usage. But fair to say maybe 125miles without pushing it on lpg. I wish there was a better system in emptying the carbs faster except reving the ar*e on neutral. Curse of a open system I guess. So what neck of the woods are you neighbour Graham. I am New Moston. Morrisons must have just come down. Because our pumps read 49.9 yesterday. Glad to see your up and running.
  24. It could be the shutoff valve. Check to see if the fuel is been fed to the carbs. Or your relay to switch the fuel pump on. Is yours an open system or closed. Mine I have to drain the carbs first before switching to lpg. But I can flick the switch back to petrol with no problem. Only snag I had was the amplifier unit on the side of the distributor knacker. Result a very wet and confused RAC Repair man and a nice pickup journey home for me . Sadly I was going to work at the time . Oakesy 1988 v8 3.5 petrol/lpg manchester
