  1. The earlier Series ran with the differing sized hub bearings, then were changed to identical inner and outer bearings - 'RTC 3429' x 2 same as most late LR's. Lee
  2. My first Vaio I've had for 3 years, never had any issues - one of my mates keeps buying the cheap £300 jobbies, forever having problems. I guess you pays your money and takes your choice..........
  3. The sony VAIO's are very good, got one for work and one at home - had no problems and the build quility seems high. Lee
  4. I’ve run both the 35’s & 36’s Ets - you’ve got the obvious height advantage with the 36’s but the 35’s do generally seem to bite better in the goo. Lee
  5. I was called out to a removals lorry that had slid sideways on a sloping gravel drive into a house - the roof of the tilting lorry was resting against the 1st floor of the house! Every time the driver attempted to edge the lorry in any direction the lorry slid harder against the property. Access was very limited so no heavy recovery vehicles could get near it. We spent 2 hours with lots of snatch blocks and triple lining the winch ( 8274 ‘XP’ on a Discovery ) and managed to drag the lorry sideways to the relief of some very grateful removals men!!
  6. I made these two bumpers / mounts, fronts a Giggled 8274 and the rears a standard XP. I tried to keep the approach and departure angles as high as poss - the discoverys are big enough! Lee
  7. I purchased a JD2 bender from SF supplies - the pipe bender is fantastic, however the customer service was very poor. I'm afraid I'll not use them again............................ Lee
  8. This is why I love the auto's!! If it's not clutch issues then it's the rear output shaft / transfere gear trying to strip themsleves!!
  9. I've found that the warmer the vehicle / drivetrain the worse the judder is. As well as the spigot bush judder can be caused from excessive play in the gear box internals, especially the input shaft. Lee
  10. Could be the spigot bush in the centre of the fly wheel, rarely changed and if worn allow the input shaft on the gearbox to move excessively and cause judder when pulling away. Lee
  11. Not heard anything yet - is the 2nd still on? Thanks Lee
  12. I live in the Island, the lanes are all fairly easy - very dry at the moment, some are also over grown so potential scratches on body work etc. Your welcome to call me for more info - 01983 524912. If you get bored with laning there is also a ‘BORDA’ off road school based just outside Sandown - which is run by me! Enjoy the sunny Isle! Lee Islandoffroadadventure.co.uk
  13. Last weekend @ slindon, we were out of the hole in about 2 mins
  14. Please put me down for a couple of forms / entry places. Thanks Lee
  15. Is Rusper defiantly closed to 4x4 events? I thoroughly enjoyed my last visit there, finding the site a refreshing and challenging change to the normal south coast options. Lee
  16. Drop the track rod - only two 19mm nuts Lee
  17. Both the 200's and 300's use the same fork and both suffer from the pivot pushing through - pants design! A common mod is to weld a largish washer to the back of the fork to stengthen it. Lee
  18. I purchased an 'X' brake from Simon a couple of months ago - top service and a great bit of kit. I must admit I’ve not used Scrapiron for a few years - there’s a good reason for that, poor customer service and repeated incorrect parts being sent out, so no more business from me EVER! Keep up the good work Simon Lee Island Offroad Adventure
  19. We had a great day, came up from the Isle of Wight and it was well worth the journey - thanks to Paul and '28x4'. Burger vans a great idea, whether or not you could physically get one on or off site is another matter........... Is there a date planned for March?? Regards Lee
