  1. 2004 TD5, getting was progressively harder to start……… Spins over fine, checked the injection harness loom and no oil contamination. Got her running by purging the fuel system a couple of times but after about 1 mile running she looses power and cuts out. Will start again after 5 mins but runs rough / missing and then cuts out. Popped a new fuel pump in her this afternoon and also a new fuel filter – no different! Hawkeye shows no stored faults. Help! Lee
  2. My Seadoo ( RXT RS ) is 1.5 litre, producing 260hp and accelerates quicker than a Ferrari – Guess the supercharger helps!
  3. Just repaired a P38 in my workshop, front prop UJ failed, peeled the passenger side footwell open, smashed the side of the auto box up - needed a new box / prop etc and I'm guessing the driver needed new pair of pants! All for the sake of a little grease every now and again!
  4. I always drop the box - done a few at my unit and on a 4-post ramp I can access the old clutch pack in under an hour, it's like anything, they get easier with practice! To make removal of the crossmemeber less stressful I spread the chassis rails a couple of 'mm' with a scissor jack with a 400mm tubed extension piece welded on, saves a lot of hammering.
  5. Well said, reading this thread reminds me why I rarely post here Lee
  6. Knacker 'A' frame ball joints knock / thud when on & off throttle, worth a pry-bar Lee
  7. P38, diesel '2000' Just developed elec fault, instrument cluster dead ( sometimes flickers ) and elec windows work intermittently. Popped in a new fuse box assembly under the bonnet this afternoon ( old unit smelt burnt ) but not alot of improvement. I'm leaning towards the BECM, but at a few hundred pounds would like to prove where the fault lies before committing more money. Any ideas?? Thanks Lee
  8. I had this on a tdi last year, checked all the basics - ending up popping a injector pump on and that was the fault - ran fine after Lee
  9. If they won't run after they've been purged a few times, try cranking it over with the throttle flat on the floor, sometimes gets them going..... good luck Lee
  10. Got a little project in mind and before I get the spanners out has any one popped a classic 3 door Range Rover shell onto a 3 door Discovery chassis? If you have....did you have any fitment / outrigger issues? Thaks in advance Lee
  11. I had a initial budget of 2.5, then we found extensive corrosion in the bulkhead foot wells, also only replaced old for new ( fittings / lights / etc ) and then the customer requested a winch / bumper and Warn wireless system, mud console and new CD player, spare wheel carrier and larger tyres - so the 2.5 didn’t last for long!
  12. Appreciate the comment, spent some time on the old girl!
  13. Just wiring up the winch today, took the picture last night as I was finnishing up for the day. The 90's being collected by the customer this afternoon, so after remotes and contactors, I'd best get polishing! There's a bit of offroading over here, a few greenlanes, one 'club' ( now theres a story.... ) and if I'm not tinkering with 4x4's at my unit I run a offroading school / corp entertainment site. Beat's being an estate agent!!
  14. Yes, the winch is just for looks. I guess the chap I've done the work for is 'image conscious!' But... you never know, I might one day be able to persuade him to come playing. But then, if he scratched it I’d don’t know who would be more upset!
  15. Chap who owns it will never go near the muddy stuff, the number plates quite safe! ( And thanks for the complement! ) Lee
  16. I used to be a prison officer, an estate agent and even a nightclub manager - now I get paid to play with Landrovers! Before............. After.............. I hope the customers happy! Shame mine looks a shed!

    Flasher!

Not sure the Series 2 has a trailer warning lamp.....

    Flasher!

Series 2, when you indicate either way the column light flashes once and then stops but you can hear the flasher relay continue to click and the indicators indicate! What’s that all about?? Thanks Lee
  19. 99% of the time I do them from underneath, you only need to remove the center console, hand brake cable and gear levers from inside. Not a hard job, last week I drove a Discovery 1 onto my 4 post ramp and 47 mins later had the old clutch in my hands, whislt drinking tea I might add! Good luck! Lee
  20. Fit a pack from a 130, very common upgrade Lee
  21. Looking to purchase a new CSK loom, any recommendations on suppliers? thanks Lee
  22. Take aux belt off, run the engine up and if the noise is gone then it's related to the belt run / auxillarys. If the noise is still there then its engine related. Stethoscope's work well, you can check all the individual componenets with the engine running. Good kuck. Lee
  23. So.............has anyone ever seen a failed tow ball?
  24. The SWL rate of a standard tow ball is 3.5 t ?? And am I right in saying the SWL is normally a 7th of the overall rating?? Anything like those figures would need a mighty large winch to cause a failure...........................I've never seen or heard of any tow balls breaking, now naff mountings, recovery points and rusty cross members, theres another story!
  25. Has anyone ever seen a tow ball fail?? ( Normally the mounting is the weakest link ) Lee
