mad_pete
Somehow my rear door stay doesn't line up. Did land rover move it at some point ? I'm bolted on top of the bracket rather than in it. Tub is 1988, door probably 1995 ish.
western
yours at tub end the arm needs to go between the bracket upper & lower plates not on the very top. door end looks OK
mad_pete
If I bolt it on in the middle of the bracket the stay isn't level. That's why it's on top at the moment.
western
your tub bracket is slightly different shape to mine, I would put the arm in the right place & redrill the tub so the arm runs level. I think your tub bracket is the earlier rod variant as in http://www.albrit.de/epc.cfm?PAGE=C01510&CAR=L1&SPRACHE=EN & http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/231048/0/door_checkstrap_bracket_series_111___defender__gt__1986my this is the later variant http://www.albrit.de/epc.cfm?PAGE=C01515&CAR=L1&SPRACHE=EN
Mo Murphy
Land Rover build tolerances ? As Ralph has said just drill the tub and mount the bracket in the right place or try another door. Mo
Snagger
That tub end bracket looks more like a SIII front door stay bracket to me.
western
see my 2nd link above, its a old 6 number part number, so could well be a series part as well.
Snagger
Those in the link are pattern parts - there should be three bolt holes for the SIII bracket, hence the triangular form. The bottom two match those on Defender bulkhead door pillars, but Defenders never had the third bolt as the torque rod to hold the door open is in the way.
