reb78
The hub seal on the drivers side of the 110 is weeping slightly. Its the seal land thats likely at fault as I noted it was a little rough when i last had the hubs off. I was considering a speedi sleeve, but the stub axles arent actually that dear to buy and replace. Bearmach do a kit I think, but I cant identify which one i need for my 1989 110 (TD era, pre defender). Can anyone point me to the correct kit please? western
the stub axle is frc4320 page 420 of http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/parts_books/110/5_axles_suspension_steering_p398-471.pdf same age/model as my 110. are you in cornwall permanently now ? Retroanaconda
I’ve just bought a replacement stub axle from EAC for my 90 (same as yours) as doing a hub seal every 15,000 miles is getting old - purportedly OEM so we’ll see how it is this weekend. I used OEM Bearmach ones on the 110 rear axle and they seemed good, though it’s not turned a wheel in anger yet so I reserve judgement! But they were nicely machined and the bearings were a good fit on them which is better than what I have read of Britpart ones.
reb78
Thanks for these links. James - did the stub axle come with the seal and bronze bush or did you need to order these separately? If thats the case, i think i only need the stub to axle gasket and a new hub seal. Bearings seem ok, so they can just get a grease unless its really bad practice not to do these at the same time? Ralph - Cornwall at weekends at the moment - so the 110 is doing 500 miles a week currently!
Retroanaconda
It came with the bush and seal installed already. Seems okay so far

reb78
Is FTC4785 the correct hub seal for a 1989 110? The part numbers in the book all appear to be superceded to FTC4785 but that seems to state from 1994 onwards. Not sure if that makes much difference? landroversforever
Do you run your bearings in oil? if so you want the earlier RTC3511 I think it is, the seal with the extra lip.
reb78
I use grease in mine Ross. I might order an RTC3511 as well so i can compare them.
reb78
Grrrr. Put the whole order in and shop4autoparts just rang to say they don't have FRC4320 and wont be getting any more! You must have got the last one James!
