SAMEEE
Hi, I own a '86 110 sw v8 and all the doors are rusted and was hoping to get some advice on whether any modification would be needed to fit the latter push button doors in the front and middle rows? Many thanks Sam
miketomcat
The check strap and striker plate are different but can be swapped. Mike
Maverik
You will probably have to drill new holes for the keeper plate but thats easy enough. Why you wanting to change to later doors? - you should look at your options for just getting fully galv set of what you've already got and just swap everything over, cheaper and keep the originality of the truck. (coming from a guy who wished he had lift up handle doors still on his truck)
SAMEEE
Thanks for the advice The second row doors are completely rusted through and I have been unable to find another set of middle row doors for quite some time so have given in to getting push buttons. I also have a set of front push button doors spare. What makes you wish you still had lift up handles Maverik? Sam
Simon Smith
My old Defenders lift handles were far better than the **** plastic push buttons on this one. Especially every time there's a heavy frost and I can't get in the damned thing!
Mo Murphy
I like the look of the lift handle front doors, just seems more Land Rover to me, like a proper ribbed roof 😊 I'd be interested in them as a repair project if they are surplus, SAMEEE. Ex Member
Yep, no way to get second row doors unfortunately. You could repair the rust. Pretty sure YRM does the bits. New front doors are available.
Maverik
SP 4x4 do all doors, but not sure they have 2nd row ones in stock just now. Personal preference for types I guess, but I've not come across a decent push button door, they're all so flimsy. Just replaced my father in laws front doors full galv from SP, seem ok, bit rough in places but they fitted perfectly.
