92a
Sorry if this seems a bit silly but are the bolts that hold the plates that in turn hold the turbo cartridge in place actually M8 or an imperial thread ? I used a 1/2 AF open ended spanner as it was a better fit and it’s got me wondering? Thanks Angus
Ex Member
M8. Most likely 12mm heads. 12mm heads are common for M8.
Retroanaconda
The 8.8 stamped on the head suggests metric. Mine were 13mm heads, which is the ‘standard’ size for an M8 fixing. I also used a 1/2” spanner as it was a tighter fit on the slightly corroded heads.

It is not standard everywhere. Japanese standard is 12 mm. You must never have seen a Japanese car.
Retroanaconda
It’s the ‘standard’ size on a Land Rover. And yes there are numerous M8 fixings with 10mm heads on the vehicle before it’s pointed out Fully aware of the Japanese standards thank you.

At work we don't let 'Engineers' out alone, nor do we leave them with the crayons or wipe board markers; and they are just civil engineers, the highest up the evolutionary development scale... 1
