SwiftTheLandRover
hey all, got a 51' S1 that needs a few parts to get it running, namely spark, looking through different options, should I get an my old distributor rebuild or go for a new electric one, same for my coil, I have a 1.6 litre in mine, if I should get a new one, what brand or option would you recommend? thanks
Gazzar
Tricky. If in very original condition and only goes to shows, then rebuild the original. Daily driver that's been hacked about a lot, then I'd go electronic.
steve b
Keep it original if at all possible , there are several suppliers over here that could provide service parts for it and also rebuild kits ( advance springs , bushes etc) Holden classic parts Turner engineering PA Blanchard Dingocroft Just a few to have a look at. Some pictures would be great , 80" pre '52 are my favourite model Steve
David Sparkes
In the UK, going on what I read on the forum of the Series 2 Club, the Distributor Doctor gets consistently favourable reviews. I wouldn't know myself as I have no petrol engine experience within the last 10 years (at least). Regards.
steve b
good post David , saved the site to my LR list Steve
simonb
I used Distributor Dr for my series 3 - he rebuilt the original. Not cheap but can't fault the quality - far better option than fitting a new Chinese pattern part. Edited January 28, 2022 by simonb
