Keeper96
Hi all, my discovery won’t crank. put the key in, turn ignition on and get all lights, radio etc. turn further to crank and I loose the radio as if it’s trying to start but it doesn’t crank. no flashing lights or anything on the dash and the lights on the gearstick change and correspond to the gear I’m selecting when playing with the stick any suggestions? Peaklander
That could just be a poor connection that has developed on a high current cable joint, so at the battery or on the starter motor.
bear
Check the small connection on the starter motor. They can come loose. Griff

landroversforever
What's the battery history? For non starting issues with a Td5, battery is always a good place to start.
AlWorms
See if there is 12V on the starter trigger wire. It's the most simple test - if there IS power, there is a starter or main cable/earth fault. If there is none, it's something in the low power side to cause no power to trigger the solenoid. I just hook a buzzer onto the trigger and earth, and listen for it... it's especially handy on intermittent faults.
Keeper96
Bear had it right, small wire to the solenoid had came loose. why do they always choose the day you’re in a rush going somewhere nice in your best clothes so you can’t be crawling around underneath!
