hello all ,

my LandRover 110 200tdi , is in need of a new battery , it has a winch , and on holidays a Engel fridge .

is the better option a semi-traction (for the fridge) or a start battery for starting and using the winch ..

at the moment i have a 100AH Bosch S5013.

Hey Gerben,

In the 109 with the 35slt  i use a yellowtop 75 amp.   Never lets me down..  900 amp of starting power.

How much does your fridge take?  mine just 70 watt's.   Or go for a dual set up?

the Eurover will get a double setup with lithium , for now a single battery has to do . with the setup i have now i can run my fridge for 2 maybee 3 days and still be able to start without trouble's . (fridge is a Engel MR040)

I'd go for the biggest start battery that fits (and is reasonably priced). You'll pay more for a semi-traction and it will be less suited to the short but intense load when winching. Just don't run the start battery too low too often. 😉

but 75 amps for the fridge seems a bit on the low side .

I've been told by a bettery supplier that a 50amp red top battery is equivalent to a 100amp lead acid so would assume the same for the 75amp yellow, so I guess it would be equivalent to around 150amp. I can vouch that a 50amp red top will start a Cummins 6bt from cold like it's an A series.
