homologation in Europe

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm a happy owner of a 2007 300 tdi

The car was assembled in kenya and is still there.

As i consider returning to france my home country, it doesnt have a CoC and will need homologation (too young for collectible).

Has anyone already been through the process ? Sorry if the question has alreafy been asked but i couldnt find anything on the forum

Cheers

Romain

I would try writing to Land Rover. I had to do similar bringing a car(Seat Leon) from Ireland to the UK. Once I'd found the right department to speak to it was fairly easy - they just sent a certificate through that I sent on to the UK's DVLA to register it.

Importing an older car, over 20 years old, is usually easy, but you may have problems with an 07 car.

It doesn't look like Land Rover will provide a CoC for cars registered outside of the EU, so you would need to find out if there is a local test for the car where they check everything meets your road regulations- UK equivalent is an IVA test.

Welcome to the Madhouse.

Please post a picture of the vehicle - we love overseas builds..

Importing and registering (Immatriculation) are 2 very different things.

The import process depends greatly on how you move to France. Are you taking residency here, long stay, how long have you had the vehicle ? You may qualify for exemption of duty or TVA is part of the removal....

Assembled in Kenya you say, but what are the first 8 characters of your VIN ?

Is the vehicle modified - in other words : not as it left the plant in Kenya.

This will tell me what route you could take here in France.

In short, we need more info please to give a correct answer.
