Les Henson
I looked at a S2A 109 SW today that has a wrecked radiator. The core seems to be identical to a 'normal' 2.25 series motor, but the header tank is twice the width. As these radiators seem to be very expensive, would it be ok to use a standard type as used in 2.25 engines, and will it be a straight swap? Ta in advance. Les. Hi Les, i dont know if a 2.5 diesel runs hotter than a petrol but ive got a standard 2.25 rad serving my 12J engine which works just fine. probably not much help, but worth a reply
FridgeFreezer
I'd say anything LR that'll fit will work - my stock rad cooled the V8 OK so you should get away with it
Tonk
cant see why not, series rad is quite efective (if kept clean). i run a 200tdi through one with no probs at all
02GF74
the series 3 comes in two flavous; 3 and 4 core, the latter being for overseas marketswhere the eather was hotter than in UK. Go for the 4 core - you can never have enough cooling and thermostat if working will prevent undercooling anyways. Paddocks were doing special deal on rads a little while ago or if you want originality you could recorethe original but you knew that anyway. Bomag
I was quoted £200 to recore a series rad, with the early deep header tank. Luck was with me and a mate passed on a good rad that he had picked up at SOdbury for a fiver Got a 4core for the V8, I found the 3core struggled a bit, but it might of been because it was knackered!
