Speedy_Gonzales
The 8274 may not be perfect but you can do a lot worse. You said Muddy Trout's website was down, have you tried fleebay? I'm assuming they still trade on there. I phoned Jade of Muddy Trout today, they are unfortunately no longer in business, so it seems that apart from the US suppliers, Devon 4x4 is the cheapest out there... Thanks for all your input guys.. will_warne
Actually there's one alternative no one else has considered - for the same price as an 8274 you could bolt 40 of these to the front of your truck. Sure, it might look a bit funny but even if you break a few you can keep going and you're co driver will get a bit fed up running backwards and forwards with winchlines but I think the idea does have some potential. One last thing to think about: it gives you 240,000 lb of pulling power which should be enough for even the hydro boys

honitonhobbit
I like my 8074, but I guess since you can't buy new ones it is a moot point in this argument... Mark you are just so retro! Cutting edge of fashion or what?

Jamie You could always try Pat at Specialist Leisure, or Chris at TBR Harwich both are Warn Winch dealers and do deals and Pat seems to be cheapest at shows.
